I have a Hitachi 43uwx10b rear CRT projection TV.

    • First problem was that the TV would turn on but no picture. It had a blown protector fuse FP05. Replaced the horizontal output transistor Q777, snubber diode, a couple of metal film caps, etc on the deflection pcb.

    • The TV does now turn on, I can see the menu come up on the scrren but turns itself off after about 5 seconds. I tried this about 4-5 times and still the same symptoms.

Any ideas on where to go next. The service manual is less than helpful for troubleshooting.

Can you post the model number please. Also, are there any other symptoms at all? Do you hear sound? Can you hear the high voltage kick in before it shuts down?
Thanks,
Dan

The flshing light could mean the power supply does not work correct. Can't deliver all voltages. But I can't get a service manual, so I can't tell you for sure.

For about 4 weeks in have been getting a notice when I turn the tv on about a lamp timer needed to be reset. While the TV was on it cut off by itself. This is a panasonic 43" rear projection LCD TV. It is...

While TV is on, simultaneously press and hold both the TV's Volume Down button and the remote's PP/Play button for 7 seconds.
This is the procedure for resetting the lamp timer. Have you ever replaced the lamp before? The lamps usually never last 5yrs.

TV Turning on and off by its self

You have problems with a condenser that allow the power supply to maintan an acceptable level of voltage in order to keep the TV on. take to a tech to be fixed. unfortunatelly, this problem needs a tech to take measures in the circuitry to find the component that causes the problem.
