The heads are dirty. Try using a cleaning tape. If that fails to resolve the problem, you will need a professional cleaning and alignment.

Barb..be sure you run a TV signal through the VCR first. And then a coaxial from the VCR to the TV. This is the easiest solution for now. And set the vcr to tv/video {channel your movie is on}hit record and hit tv/video and watch your tv for another movie!

Have a toshiba tp 61H95 proj TV- want to connect panasonic dvd recorder and toshiba vhs recorder so I can copy family videos to dvd- can't get hook ups set up for both to work.

Select AV-1 or some thing in TV and plug DVD recorder Video-Audio output in AV-1 input of TV, playback any DVD and confirm its picture and sound in TV. Press Stop button of DVD recorder to stop playback.
Now plug Video-Audio output of VCR in DVD recorder input and select AV Input in DVD recorder, insert VHS tape in VCR and playback it and confirm you get VHS picture and sound in TV via DVD recorder.
Hookup between TV, DVD recorder and VCR is completed.
Playback VHS tape in VCR, Insert blank DVD disc in DVD recorder and press Record while you see VHS tape picture in TV.
Hope this info will help you.

You need to buy Sony DVD Recorder and hook Sony VCR to that dvd recorder and burn DVD directly. You can also watch VCR tape movie on TV via dvd recorder while its being burn on dvd.
Click Sony Style to select DVD recorder.

We have sound but no picture i have sound but no picture. when you change inputs the word input is doubled up and distorted

There were not much info in the manual but it did suggest trying this.
1st- Unplug for a few minutes and then plug it back in. Or use the reset button look it up in the manual. MANUAL

2nd- Blank screen troubleshooting

• If you're trying to watch TV, change channels or press the ANTENNA button to switch tuners.
• If you're trying to watch something that's playing on a component connected to the TV (like a DVD or a VCR tape), press the TV
button on the remote, then press INPUT until you get to the correct video input channel.
• If you're trying to watch a component (like your DVD player or VCR), make sure the component connected to the TV is turned on.
• If you're trying to watch a component (like your DVD player or VCR), make sure the component is connected correctly.

Post back if non of these ideas work and explain if there are any lights flashing or changing colors on the front where the green light usually is. A fixya rating would be appreciated, thank you for stopping by Fixya!

Sound but no picture

Most likely the VCR needs a head cleaning. This is common when playing older or rented tapes as the oxide recording surface can flake off and clog the video heads. You can try a head cleaning cassette. Make sure to get a wet-type cassette which you moisten with the included cleaning fluid.

Unfortunately this is not always successful for severely clogged heads. It may be necessary to remove the cover and clean the heads with a chamois cleaning swab moistened with head cleaner. Hold the swab flat against the round drum that holds the heads and move the drum back and forth while holding the swab steady. Repeat this for each of the heads. The heads are fragile and can be damaged by incorrect cleaning, so you might want to see what a shop in your area charges. (The shop I worked in used to charge $20, but that was several years ago.)

There's also the chance there's been head failure or some other problem has developed, but dirty heads are very common.

Can't tape tv program on VCR while watching another show on digital cable.

If you set it up right per Comcast instructions:

Your VCR will record a show off of its built in tuner while you are watching another show from the cable box.

Make sure that the AB switch is set into the correct position and that you are only recording a show that that isn't digital. I believe you can only record shows up to channel 150 off the VCR tuner. Anything higher than that won't work.

If your Comcast Cable Tuner has two AV outputs in the back of it, you can skip the AB switch altogether and plug the one of the cable tuner output lines into the back of the VCR input lines. That way it can record that show you are watching on the cable tuner at that same time.

Digital to analog converter box to tv/vcr combo

You will need a splitter and an rf modulator to do timed recording of programs. The instructions are on the dtv answers website, option # 2, record and watch a different channel. The recording is for the analog stations 1-24. You cannot record the higher stations. The items I purchased were a 3 way splitter $7 at local hardware store, an rf modulator $25 at Radio Shack. The other option was to get a cable box for the tv and record off of that at $6.95 a month or a DVR for $8.99 per month, all from comcast. The price that I paid for the items I needed would be repaid in 3 months if I were to go the comcast route. The conversion is nothing more than a money making scheme for them.
