    Toshiba portege has Windows NT.

When it is switched on it ask for a password, i tried the password for 3 times and it logs me out, and switches itself off.

    Help please

  • complove Apr 29, 2008

Yes because the person is suggesting that i got this by illgotten means. I think that is very inappropriate. This is my own laptop and was given when i used to work at an institution and the agreement was we pay a small sum and it is for our keep.

I am very very angry at this:((((((((((

YOU ARE STILL IMPLYING THAT THE LAPTOP IS NOT MINE. PLS IF YOU CANNOT HELP YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO MAKE THESE KIND OF ACCUSATIONS.

    THANKS BUT NO THANKS

Unfortunatly since it is a system bios pasword I can not help you due to the posibility of the laptop being aquired by ill gotten means. No offence to you but I have a system bios pasword on all of my computers for just that reason. I wish you the best of luck with it and the only thing I can sudgest is to take the lap top to best buy and have the geek squad help you with it. They will be able to verify that it is your computer.

I am not sudgesting you got it by ill means rather that I have no idea if it is your computer or not. And personaly I have my lap top protected like the way yours is. And if somebody stole it just to have somebody tell them how to remove the pasword would be a bad thing. There for I sudgest you go to Geek Squad or you get ahold of the previous owner and get the pasword from them. Sorry if you feel you have been insulted but think about it this way. If you were to have your laptop pasword protected and it was stolen, would you want me to be on here telling the person who took it how to break into it. I don't think so. I am not saying you stole it what so ever, I am mearly saying that as the owner of the laptop, and getting it second hand, you have the option of going to the person you got it from for the pasword. I personaly don't think it would be ethical for me to tell anybody how to by-pass a password protected computer. Sorry.

How do i change the RAM on a toshiba portege M400 laptop?

The memory modules on Toshiba laptops are usually located at the back or under the keyboard depending the model.
If your laptop is still under warranty DO NOT open the case. This is only for people who are experienced with computers.

How can I connect a wireless adapter to my toshiba portege 660 cdt as there is not a port on it for the usb to fit in to

Hi,

I am assuming that your wireless adapter is USB and that your Toshiba Portege 660 CDT has a PCMCIA slot. If yes then you would need something like a PCMCIA USB 2.0 Card adapter as shown here. The added advantage is that you would have an extra USB port. Just pls make sure that the PCMCIA USB 2.0 Card adapter you will purchase is compatible with your laptop and has drivers appropriate for your Operating System.

Alternately, you can try swapping your USB WiFi for a PCMCIA version similar to this. Again, pls make sure that the PCMCIA Wireless network card you will purchase is compatible with your laptop and has drivers appropriate for your Operating System.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Unlocking Toshiba Portege M300

Try logging in as Administrator with no password, if it says that account is disabled, reboot in safe mode (while the comptuer is coming up, hit the F8 key - then choose safe mode) and then log in as Administrator with no password. Then you can go to control panel and take off the passwords for the users.

Help needed to get power connected.

There are a few possibilities.

If it's been plugged in continuously, the adapter may have simply overheated. Allowing it a few minutes to cool down without being plugged in could possibly fix it. Try unplugging the power cable from both the wall and the laptop for 30 minutes and give it another shot. This might work.

The other, less happy, possibility is that your adapter overheated to a critical point or was struck by an electrical surge and is damaged beyond repair. You can order a new one from a site like eBay or directly from Toshiba. Looks like you could get one from eBay for around 25$US incl. shipping but be careful and make sure you order the right thing.
