Its a good bet that the picture tube is going bad. Thats the classic symptom of a failing tube. The tubes if available cost more than new tv's.. Sorry

The picture and sound on my 55 inch Sony disappears momentarily

Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. But if you don't hear any strange noises,tv is around 6000 hrs,2-4 yrs it could be time to replace the lamp. The lamp you need is XL-2200.You can find it here: http://www.discount-merchant.com/Sony-XL-2200-TV-Bare-Lamp-Bulb-p/sony_xl-2200u_a1601753a_lamp.htm?Click=48173 Have a blessed one!

Sony FD Trinitron WEGA

Here's my suggestion , unhook all the external components to the TV and leave the TV unplugged for more than a few minutes (a day/overnight). The next day plug the TV into the wall outlet (not the powerstrip) without anything hooked up to it, and turn it on. See if it comes on. Sometimes unplugging for a few minutes/hours is not long enough for it to reset itself.

Picture and sound first turn on before disappearing over and over again.

Hi,
Symptom shows its weak Lamp problem in TV and you need to replace lamp. Replacement procedure is easy and written in instruction manual of TV.

Always buy Sony Original Lamp from Sony Accessories for longer life of TV.

Tired with this sony tv

Sony doesn't want anyone to see a poor picture on a Sony tv so they have a circuit that blanks the video if there is a weak picture or any other problem concerning picture quality. My Sony factory Instructor told me this many many years ago. I'm feeling old...but anyway you need a technician. Sorry.

Standby/stereo light blinking no picture or sound

My picture would go out after several minutes but I still had sound. I took the rear cover off and blew all the dust off with compresed air.I did this for a few times over several days nothing happened.I also took off the rear circuit board that attaches to the tube with a round pin socket and blew that with compressed air and put it back on. The TV has now worked for two days without the picture going out. It worked!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My TV is 9 years old.

Sony Wega kv27FV310 standby flashes 2 times with no picture or sound

3 years ago, i had the same problem with a samsung 36", when i switched it on it would stay on for around half an hour, i tried to switch on straight away, but it wouldnt, i had to leave it for an hour or so, then it would stay on for about 5 minutes. And the same thing the next day (half an hour then 5 minutes). I left it into the repair shop, it had to get a circuit board replaced at a cost of £315, dont know how much it will cost to get fixed now, as i could buy the same tv for a little over that now.

36" Sony Trinitron blinking red 4 times-PLEASE HELP QUICK!

Sounds like a typical high-voltage failure. Could easily cost another $300 to have it fixed. If it is less than about 6 years old I'd say it was worth fixing. If you want to DIY, then pull all the electronics out (label all the connections) and send it all to either Module Exchange at 972-298-1212 or PTS Electronics 800-844-7871

Sony Trinitro 36" HD TV

There is a circuitry problem with the scan control, this is a job for the "Shop" as I always advise get a firm "Quote" B4 prceeding with any fix... Generally these days there is no Horizontal/Vertical Hold, as such, it is all done by the Compter Chip inside.
