Am looked out of all dur to trying to log onto my dds computer in another town

1. Your Dad's computer must have remote login enabled for you to get into it's file system. Generally, you must also have an administrator-level account (user name and password) on that computer.

2. If your Dad's computer is set up as a webserver, and you want to change the website remotely, then it would have to have a link for a site administrator login. This should be a secure (https) page.

Those things have to be set up at the computer by someone with administrator level access. If nobody knows the password for an administrator level account on that computer, there probably is not much that can be done other than to go to the computer and copy or e-mail whatever files are accessible. Some people sell "password unlocking" software, but I cannot vouch for its effectiveness, nor its security - if it contains a Trojan Horse it would make the computer open to whatever hacker installed the Trojan Horse.

On the other hand, if your Dad had a webpage set up on a web hosting service, you do not need access to your Dad's computer to get to it. If you don't have the administrator username or password for the page, you may be able to get the hosting service to provide you with access once you show your legal authority to do so. This also holds for e-mail accounts.

I keep entering my password under my user name and it wont let me in

Hi John,

What operating system does your computer have, assuming you are having trouble logging into a version of Windows (XP, Vista, Win7, other)? The following will be applicable to most but may be slightly different between versions.

Have you tried logging in with the Administrator account?

Try logging in with the Username 'Administrator' and an empty password. If you are able to log in, go into the control panel under Users & Accounts and reset the password for your user account to nothing or set a new password.

If you are not able to log into the Administrator's account or another user who has administrative privileges you will need to try a Rainbow crack (very technical) or log into another account on your machine that has administrative security privileges.

If all else fails you can run the Master Restore CD or System Recovery tools that came with your computer.

I can't log in to my account on my Dell PC?

Now which operating system are you running ?

Forgetting your Windows XP login details might at first seem like a disaster. Don't panic though; your login password and username are easily recovered by changing the login details to that of the administrator.

Begin with your computer turned off, and then turn it on. You will need to log in to your computer manually and this can only be done in the load-up screens. Wait until your computer reaches the Windows login screen. The screen usually displays a "Welcome" message. Press and hold the "Ctrl", "Alt" and "Delete" keys two times at the Windows login screen. Your computer will automatically reveal a Classic Login box. Type "Administrator" (without quote marks) into the "Username" field and leave the "Password" field blank. Windows automatically creates an Administrator account when your computer is first booted up; in this account you can alter or change any user's login details. Navigate through the "Start" menu and click on the "Control Panel." In the Control Panel explorer, double-click on the "User Accounts" icon to open a new window. Select "Change an Account" in the User Accounts window and select the username you want to alter. From here you can edit the user's name and password, but you can also alter the user's picture, account type and .NET password. Restart your computer to login with your new username and password.

I DO NOT KNOW THE PASSWORD OR USERNAME FOR MY QWEST P5000Z MODEM . dONT KNOW WHERE TO START TO FIND IT OR CHANGE IT? PLEASE HELP! THANKS- AMY : )

what operating system ? and what type and brand of computer desktop laptop ?

Often many users will leave the administrator account alone or have other accounts with administrator rights. If you're not logging into the computer as administrator or have other accounts follow the below steps to reset your other accounts password.

Reboot the computer into Safe Mode.

When logging into Safe Mode you should be prompted with an option to what account you wish to use. Select the Administrator account. If prompted for a password try pressing Enter on the keyboard for no password. If this does not work, try other passwords you may have used. If you're unable to log into the Administrator account skip to the next suggestion.

Once you've logged into the Administrator account open Control Panel and User Accounts.

In User Accounts select the account you wish to change the password for, click change password and then enter the new password or click remove the password to remove the password from the account.

hope this helps
