My PT-D5500U will show the red light when the power is plugged in, when I turn on the other power the power light will go green for a moment and then start blinking red. No lamp comes on and the fan gets louder. It runs like this for a few minutes and then powers itself off. This paticular projector has two lamps in it.

How many hours are on the projector? I would say that you need to change lamps first. Unfortuantely, this series of Panasonic is known for lamp and lamp circuit issues. There are runs of bad lamps...try 2 new lamps if possible or consult an authorized service center.

Good Luck

    Tonya,
Did you find an answer for your projector issue. I have the same projector - Panasonic PT-D5500u, and I am having the exact same problem, only the unit does not power down.

When I set my PT-D5500UL contrast mode to HIGH the picture have less light than when contrast mode set to NORMAL, is this okay or....because there should be more light when is set to HIGH?

I have a PT-D3500E and it does exactly the same as your projector. When setting contrast mode to high, the picture gets darker. I think this is o.k.

I have a Panasonic PT-D5500U. We replaced the lamp, and then shortly thereafter, whenever we turn on the projector the power lamp goes from green and shuts off and blinks red three times continuously. ...

the problem is a known "bug" by the manufacture, which is due to low temperature issue that's detected by the processor of the projector. it will require a firmware upgrade. i'd recommend getting in contact w/ their tech support.

The Power Light is Red

yeah, should stay red when unit is turned off, indicating there's power but it's doing nothing.

Per user manual:
Solid red - power off (standby mode)
blinking red - power off (now cooling)
blinking green - power on (preparing to light lamp)
solid green - power on

Blank Screen - Panasonic PT-50LC13-K

Hey Ben, The TV is alerting you it is about time to change your light bulb, it will keep on doing this until the light bulb just dies.
Order your Bulb via On Line at any of the places, there are different prices, but average for the authentic one with the chasis included is @ 260.oo and only takes @ 5 days to get delivered. You can save up to 140.oo if you just order the pure light bulb, and go the extra mile changing it, I just explain someone how to about it, only takes you 30 mins. Good look, I hope I get help for my problem too.

Lamp problem or else?

You need to get the ballast repair kit #LSUC0002 and replace the parts to your ballast.

I have the exact same TV, did the above this past weekend, and the TV works like new.

You need to know how to solder though. It's not that hard.
