Question about Brother MFC-5840CN All-In-One InkJet Printer

Will not scan

Have tried all sorts - will not scan. says it cannot read (computer) or find scanner (I think that's what it says). I have uninstalled and reinstalled a number of times, still says there is an error in the scanning field.  Everything else works perfectly. I really need to use the scanner for my assignments for Uni. can you please help.

Turn off your machine, disconnect and then reconnect the USB cable to your computer.

  1. Start "Device Selector" by double clicking "Device Selector.app" in //Library/Printers/Brother/Utilities/Device Selector folder, or by clicking " Model" on the upper-left corner of the Brother Control Center 2.0 and selecting "other".
  2. Select USB as the connection type. Your machine name will appear on the list. Select your machine and click OK
  3. Close the Device Selector
  4. Open your scanning application and test.

Thanks very much for your quick reply. I actually worked out some how to do it by getting to the 'scan sight' on computer called 'page manager' and scanning through that avenue - it takes quite a bit of time as the computer goes really slowing through each process- however at least I can scan. Thanks very much for your help.  I still cannot scan from operating from the MFC itself (pushing the scan button and start) but the other way will be fine.  I reinstalled the MFC disc also and noticed that on this mac (new to me) I hadn't stalled that part of the programme. So I'm happy now.

Disconnect the Scanner or Printer from the Computer .Then uninstall the printer or scanner software.Restart, your computer,then re-install your software restart your Computer try scanning

According to your problem it seems to be your
1.Your Printer USB cable Unpluged or faulty.check your printer USB cable is it connected to the PC or not. if it is correct go to next step
2.May your computer Printer driver uninstalled.You may need to reinstall printer driver and application once again by using printer driver CD. My Canon DR-9080 scanner is duplicating pages, when it is not set to do that, it is not every page but consistently the 1st page and 15th page. Have uninstalled drivers, re-installed drivers, changed...


Very likely it is the software that you are using. I would run virus scan like Mohan suggested, and then test again. If the problem is not a virus, then I would uninstall the scanning program and reinstall it...or contact the software manufacturer if you have a maintenance agreement with them. There is a good free downloadable high speed document scanning software available if you want to load it and verify that it is a software problem.

Try uninstalling the printer/scanner completely, and the reinstalling the drivers again. Most problems is sorted out this way.

Epson Perfection V200 Photo scanner


You have tired all the computery things seemingly
but it is work trying some more
Remove all software.- using the Epson Uninstall routine .
and just to be sure go to Programs.Epson and maually delte all you can find.
Make sure that when you re install- the computer is off line and the ant virus program is disabled.
That should sort the problem Computer wise.
When you go to operate the scanner- does it then go through the motions of Scanning but no light - is that it?
If it is - there is nothing for it but to replace ther scanner
To bad about the warranty card but if you have the sales recieipt
And purchased less than a year ago - the the seller has a responsability [UK wise any way]
But a pleading message toi Epson may surprise you too.

Is kodak digital science 3520DP a sorting scanner


The Kodak 3500 scanner series is probably the best scanner ever made, but NO, it doesn't read anything! Think of it as a digital camera. It only takes pictures. All OCR, ICR, BAR Code, etc. has to be read by software. Your software looks at the images and pull any info that it has been designed to detect off of that image. Some older scanners had built in bar code and patch code reading, but more and more, the software now does it, usually in conjunction with a Kofax card in the PC.

Solid background tint


I bought a power supply from ebay paid $22 with shipping thought it was better than getting a new scanner.
Screen is all Green and resolution is 72 no matter what the settings.
I guess it is time for a new scanner.

Getting error code Code[ffff:0024]while scanning


while i am trying to scan the images .. i am getting the error code like Code[ffff:0024] while warming up the scanner, besides a sound from the scanner making it power off (light inside the scanner goes off ) so that i could not get scanned anything ... what will be the reason ? please suggest me the trouble shoot kaarthik
