There is a list of printers that are compatible with linux. Go to http://www.openprinting.org/printer_list.cgi and see if your printer is on the list.

SCX4824FN driver

Fixya doesn't have any drivers for any device, the only place to get the software is at the manufacturers support site, if they don't have the needed drivers to use Linux then it likely doesn't exist.

Tip

I need Postscript drivers for Lexmark printer T630.

Hi.

This printer supports Postscript, PPDS, and PDF emulation only on systems up to Windows 2000, on Mac OS X up to 10.6, and on Solaris.
Windows 7and Vista are not fully compatible with this printer, and the printer will not have full functionalities on this systems.

If you have Win XP, Win dows Server 2003, Win 98, Win 2000 or Mac OS, then all you have got to do is installing full factory driver software.

If you have Windows 7 or Vista, then you should upgrade the printer to get full features. Lexmark has opted for not updating this printer software. Full software release for Windows Vista and Windows 7 does not exist.

The drivers and software for this printer can be downloaded from Lexmark website, using the links below:

Lexmark_AAG_WinXP_PS_Driver- Post script driver.

System PCL Driver for Microsoft Windows XP and Server 2003

System PCL Driver for Microsoft Windows 2000.

PCL6 driver for Microsoft Windows 95, 98 and Me.

Printing solution for Mac OS X v.10.6.

Print driver for Sun Solaris 10 x86 systems.

Network print support for Linux.

Here the full driver installation procedure : How to install a Lexmark printer without the driver and software disk.

The printer may still work on Vista and Windows 7 using the built in drivers, but it will have limited functionality. See: Windows 7 Information.

Regards.

Need Tally T6140 driver for solaris 10.

You can use an Epson FX driver which should be build-in in Solaris. Then you just need to select the Epson Emulation in the printers menu and save your configuration afterwards.

My mac 10.6 OS does not have any drivers but generic. I can't use the full benefit of the copier

You will not be able to, because the primary drivers for the Toshiba E-Studio 3511 Color Copier, are too old for the Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard printer.

As you already may be experiencing, the range of use for your Toshiba E-Studio 3511 may work with various generic drivers and will not improve due to the Toshiba printer's incompatibility with Mac OS X 10.4 - 10.6.

You will in fact, always have a very limited to basic use of this Toshiba Color copier in Snow Leopard, because the driver support stopped at Mac OS X 10.3 Panther and there are not even any drivers for Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger for this Toshiba printer.

Printer drivers for
Toshiba E-Studio Color Copier:

* Windows98/Me/2000/XP/2003 Server (only 32Bit), * * Windows NT4.0,
* Macintosh 9.X, X ver10.1/10.2/10.3
* Unix (HP-UX 10.20/11.X, Sun Solaris 2.6,2.7,7.8,8,IBM AIX, Linux)

Link to Technical Specs page:
Toshiba E-Studio 3511 Color Copier Technical Specifications

If you want review compatible printers for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, here is the Apple link for this list:

Hope this helps!

Need driver CD for HP3740

Hi

The printer doesn't support windows 98. supported systems are:

» Microsoft Windows Vista
» Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)
» Microsoft Windows XP
» Microsoft Windows XP x64
» Microsoft Windows 2000
» Mac OS X
» Mac OS 9
» Linux

Drivers are available at this page below:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=401496&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=3&submit.x=8&lang=en&cc=us

Note that there are no drivers for 98 and it won't be simple to get the printer to work with the 98.. I would recommend upgrading to 2000 or windows xp. if your computer is from 1998 it might be better to buy a new computer.

Todays printers don't work with 10 year old computers anymore.

linux would work on the computer for sure, and so would the printer but using linux is quite complex, you would need to get someone to install it for you and make it look as much like windows as possible, its a whole new system..

Let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
Ekse

X5470 with Linux

First: Shouldn't you have addressed you comments to Lexmark?

This is a site where questions are answered by people from all over the world - I doubt that there is anyone answering questions here who works for Lexmark.

Note: I totally agree with you on the fact that manufacturers should produce Linux drivers - but here's the rub - there are so many versions of Linux that a manufacturer would need to write so many versions of a driver that it would be uneconomical. It would be much easier if there were fewer versions of Linux (at least only a few core versions - say Debian and RedHat only) rather than every version of Linux requiring it's own software and drivers etc.

And yes it would be good for Manufacturers to release the code to anyone who asked for it - but where is the Commercial Security in that?

I like Linux - but I think it is about 10 years away from being a mature and user friendly Operating system. The primary need for Linux programmers is to start using Standards when developing their OS. Think of this problem as an analogy - It wouldn't matter what size or design wheel was created if it used the same axle bearings and hub as everyone else. It could still be put on the cart and used.

Just my 2 cents worth.

TOSHIBA B SX4 thermal barcode printer and Solaris 10

First of all change the escape caracters used to define the tpcl commands.
(2) parameter
code auto to {|}
Substitute in your code ESC ={ Lf = | and Nul =]
The printer will ignore the other control caracters
