even when i turn my phone on and off and erase some locked messages the new message icon wont disappear. theres got to be a way to remove it. the new message icon shows at the top with or without a new message. how do i fix that?

I have exactly the same problem. I bought my L6 today and have tried resetting (by taking the battery and the sim out) but this hasn't worked.

WizBABYBRAINS - you should master clear the phone this will erase all data , pics , vidz on your phone but will remove the annoying icon.
LOTTIE86 - take the phone and have the firmware reflash if master resetting is not helping.
