Nop, I don't install any new hardware recently.
actually, this happened last night. when i finished install Ubuntu 8.04, there was no sound, so I found an method that having a try to change BIOS boot mode from "quick" to "diagnostics". I did that, then my second-hand old a21 became such a state...
so, how can i update the BIOS, byrontroy? It now can neither boot from any driver, nor can entering the BIOS setup...

it may be virus issue. i suggest you to try with last known good configuration so that it will take your computer to last good working state. for that tab F9(Function key) continously immediately once you turn on your computer until you get the advanced option on your screen. highlight last known good configuration and hit enter and it will boot in that mode once you get the main sceen CLICK start - > all programs- > Accessories - > system tools -> system restore and wizard will open and select Restore my computer to an earlier time click next next finish to set your computer to last good working condition.
If that doesnt work reinsatll the OS
did you recently install a new hardware ? did you recently install a new software? if you answered yes to any of these questions above you need remove it. therefore if you installed a new hardware safely shut down and remove cables and remove hardware.( if it is hardware the hardware is not compatible with windows) if it a software boot in safe mood then uninstall software. ( to boot in safe mood, press F8 while computer in turned on )
Here are a few different ways to approach this. If it happened recently, just do a system restore, if you remember when the last time it worked was. Next if you find that you can't remember or it was several weeks or montha ago, go into the control panel and go to add/remove hardware. Look for the camera in there and re install it. Next if you have the disk with the drivers and utilitys on it, it may be on there, that may have come with the machine. Next go into the device manager and see if it's listed under hardware, "you should actually do this first" control panel/ system/ device mgr/ hardware. There will be a list of all your hardware, if it's in there you just need the camera drivers. click on update latest driver, and it shoul d install the driver and the camera should work. Sometimes a program will delete a driver when you remove it, like one of the many messenger programs. MSN etc,
Hope this helps
Have you recently installed any new hardware or software before this happened,if so un-install it from the add and remove programs.Did you try the last configuration that worked .Try pressing f 8 key while booting and select this.Last try click on start then control panel go to system click on hardware, then device manager .Click on + display adapter's.Right click on video card and un-install .Reboot computer. It will reinstall video driver. If it still doesn't work, un-install video driver from add and remove programs and reinstall driver from cd or go web page for the newest driver.
I am assuming this is a gas stove. You probably need a new flint in the igniter. Simple problem. Check your local hardware store for flint, and refer to your manufacturer's manual for how to install it. If it's not there, a quick call to a service technician should answer the problem. hope this has been helpful.
