Sony does not make the tube available. They want you to remove the Red CRT with the Optic coupler and send it to them so they can remount a new CRT to the old Optic Coupler and they will send it back to you. This usually cost $300.00 to $400.00. It is a major tear down to remove the CRT and there will also ba a alignment of the convergence after the CRT is reinstalled. If you are really interested in doing this, let me know and I will do my best to give you instructions. Something else to consider is that the other 2 CRT's will likely need replacing soon. It is a lot of money to put into a older set that Sony is not supporting anymore. When you add up the parts cost alone for all three it is $900.00 to $1200.00. With the prices of LCD panels coming down in price you could replace the set for the cost of the parts alone.
I hope this helps,

Can be 1 of 2 things. 1st the red tube just needs the voltage to it turned down. In the front of TV (you have to remove the lower front half of TV to access it) is a plastic square with 6 knobs. The from left to right top knobs control focus for blue, green red. The bottom knobs control voltage to each tube in same order (so lower right knob for red) turn SLOWLY to left to reduce voltage until excessive red and lines go away. If you over turn left or right set will turn off. If that does not fix it or if lines reappear then option 2 is that red picture tube is failing outright and needs replacement.
Rebuilt Tubes are $252.00 plus shipping per Tube - Total cost 840.00 This price was listed in 2006 cost now ???? Also IF there was any NEW ones available cost 500.00 per Tube.
I have the same tv and it did the same thing only now it has red hues all around the picture as well. The service guy told me it was the green tube and it would be about $500.00 to replace and may not fix the problem. What a p.o.s. I will not be guilty of buying any other Sony products from now on.
