Question about Hotpoint Aquarius WMA42 Front Load Washer
Machine cycle won't start, it just beeps and the red lock sign flashes.
I have a Hotpoint WMA34 (1000 Spin). The appliance stopped mid-way through a cycle because of an electrical fault. I changed the power source (making sure it's the same ampage). I unloaded the machine, dried out the water, and powerd up the machine. The machine powered up, but the cycle did not start. Instead, the "door-lock" button started flashing.
I have a hotpoint wma34 washing machine.
The problem that I have is the old door switch dosnt work when the door is closed. If, for example i set the washing machine on setting K and run the machine the 'door open' LED flashes.
If I then remove the switch and press down on the microswitch on the door switch the machine starts working normally.
I have done about 20 washes doing this and everything works fine.
Now, i have ordered two replacement switches tha wnt work at all. They look the same as my original but there is no microswitch on the door switch (if tha makes sense?) and the dont work at all.
So, what can the problem be.... any clues ...?

IF you machine is a wma39 not a wmm39a then what has happed is that you control board is blown basically.
TO check this remove the soap draw and you will c three screws remove them... TO make removing the panel easier i would suggest removing the top as well as the front panel is wedged into it.. Then unclip the board from the panel and you will c where the big wiring plug is attached that the tracks on the board are blown.. There is no point replacing the board untill you can work out what has caused it to blow because it will blow again.. Its usually the motor or the doorlock which blows the board.. Trust me i been dealing with this type of machine for years...

More likely the PCB needs replacing - common fault, you could try a new door switch first cost £5 new PCB £65+ but is easy to replace.

SOURCE: Door lock light flashing
Shame to say it but yes..
You board behind the control pannel is blown. this is caused by either a faulty door swtich or the motor.. Your model number tells me its most likely the door switch.. The control board will need replacing and the door swtich.
Getting to the board is easy only three screws near the soap draw. make sure you write which wires go where and to getto the door lock undue the door rubber if you needany further advice let me know
i have worked on more the 300 of these machines
