Problems with Nikon Telephoto AF-S Nikkor 600mm...

Has any one had a problem with nikon 600 f4 ED-IF 1 autofoucus lens.
Problem is with the circuit board. An intermittent problem when you put the lens on a Nikon camera and pust the shutter it usally focuses. You wait your 15 sec and the camers shuts itself off. Now when depressing the
shutter button ithe autofocus should kick in but mostly does not. seems to me it has hung up or something. You take the lens off and back on and it resets. Contacts and mount was replaced by nikon but they do not seem to know how to fix it.To me seems not a psysical thing that can be changed by tapping on the lens. Most likely the circits are not activated in on of the chips.

WizIt sounds like the circuit board in the lens is intermittant or there is a bad connector contact internaly where the circuit board connects to the harnesses.
Trying to find a cold solder connection on a multi-layer circuit board with SMD technology componts is not usually very feasible and reliable.
A major cause of this type of failure is from humidity, and or banging or dropping the lens unit.
I would start by changing the circuit board and the connector assembly inside the lens. This is an expensive fix, but it is effective.
If you request the described repair and offer to pay the cost, I am sure they will do it.
