Question about Canon Optura 40 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
I am not able to get sound on playback on the camcorder's built in speakers. Also, the camcorder no longer beeps when I turn it on. I tried changing the settings with no success.
Try a cleaning tape. Buy a good quality cleaning tape (Panasonic makes one) and remember: cleaning tapes are abrasive so don't overuse it! Overuse can result in the need to replace the rotating drum assy in the camcorder. I'll bet a cleaning tape takes care of your problem.

It should work well with Apple iMovie that came with your mac. There is a new version (imovie 09) that is said to be a major improvement over imovie 08 (the version that likely came with your computer). It is part of the iLife suite of multimedia Apple software. Available for $79 from the apple store. Here's a link to the store page. Buy now
