Doesn't run, starts a rattle noise when plugged in then stops quickly.

YES! You need to wait at least 24 hours before running the unit if you laid it down. It needs time for the oil to run back down to the compressor. Keep me posted.

GE model GTS22WCP can I lay it on it's side or back to transport?

it is not recommended to lay an appliance with a compressor, the reason is that the compressor oil will run to one side and the appliance will not function properly. i have heard that if laid down the make sure to stand the appliance upright for several days before plugging it in.

I was told that I should wait 24 hrs before pluging in a refrigator that had been transported lying down. Is this true?

HI,Yes for most refrigerator you do have wait because the oils come out of the compressor so the oil must settle back down. But some refrigerators you do not have to wait if laid on their side, if it was new in box it will say on box "lay this side down" if not better safe then sorry.

Moved unit, wont get cold

did you transport it upright or laying down.... depending on who you talk to you will get a different answer... i have been in the appliance business for 18 years and have to say the more i hear they are transported laying down the more i hear troubles... either way after transported or moved they should be left sitting for approx. 24 hours to allow all the oil to settle back down,,,also could have developed a leak in the sealed system one of the refrigerant lines leaking.

Hi,
Yes wait for like 12 hours to plug it in, then only run it for a few minutes and leave it set for an hour for about four times....
Yes it could damage the fridge but probably not...

What causes my fridge to run hot? It thinks its an oven! It was working fine prior to transportation, after which it was left for three hour prior to switching on when it ran hot.

I believe it may have been laid down during transport. Leave it unplugged for another 24 hours and allow the compressor oil to return back down to the compressor. This is a very common problem if laid down on side during transport. After this time replug the power cord and listen and feel to insure warm air blows from bottom of refrigerator and cold air in freezer. The oil is to thick and heavy to be pushed through the capillary tube. Just be patient and not try to push the time getting it to cool again as the compressor will continue to overheat if oil remains in the cap tube. Thanks Sea Breeze

Used refrig was laid down in transport from one location to another. Now the unit won't cool..

Hello there
a refrigerator needs to stand up straight for at least 12 hours after it has been laid down if it has been more than i hour to allow the refrigerant to settle back in the accumulator if you just plug it in you have a good chance of destroying the compressor or damaging it
I would recommend first having the unit serviced to see if the refrigerant level is low and if it is this is good get it recharged and than test it out and hopefully it will return itself to it's normal cooling like it did before if not than you know your compressor needs to be repaired ok
I hope that this has been very helpful for you
Best regards Michael

False . If it was delivered laying on its' side , back , or front , 24 hrs is necessary . If delivered standing up , no need to wait .
