I have a 6 years old Sony 46wt520,
When I turned the TV on, I heard the sound for about 30 sec. with no pictures and it goes off by itself, the stand by light flashing 5 times
What should I do?

I recently got a 60 inch Sony KDF-E60A20 from a friend for around. ... runs for about 1 minutes then goes black(no picture no sounds), then the picture and sound come right back on for another minutes then off for 30 seconds.
Flashing of the standby LED light 10 times (KP-46WT520) is a "High Voltage Protection".
Affected parts are as follows :
• Q8014 or Q8013 have shorted replace along with R8051 on D Board.
• IC8005 is damaged (D Board).
You must know how to test transistors, resistors using the multimeter if you are going to DIY.
If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to seek for an assistance of a qualified TV Technician to isolate the above faulty parts.

Hi, It is symptom of weak lamp that has been reached to an end of its working hours life but not dead/ broke yet. If lamp has not been replaced in last 2-3 years then please replace lamp in tv to get solve this problem. Lamp is getting weak and TV shuts off and turns on itself because of weak lamp in TV that you see picture and sound fades away for some time until TV reboots.
Replace lamp in TV to solve this issue. Lamp replacement procedure is written in user manual and its an easy work.

I may be late with this but it souonds once again ike dust in and on the bulb cage. These TV's will turn off by themselves if they over heat. The extra dust(not much) can/will cause the TV to heat up and shutdown for a few seconds to a minute. Depending on the time of year and location of the TV can vary.
Try removing the bulb and cleaning it with compressed air and a micr fiber towel. Of course don't touch the blub itself as the skin oils will cause it to break.
