The copier is jammed - the copy light and load paper light is on and I can not get the copier to reset.

I think you should take all unused papers out, close tray and predd print button. If there is paper in the system, it may come out. A red light may also flash asking you to load papers. Now lod the papers and the red light will go off. Put a printed paper and try copying. If it copies, you are ok. Now print from your cpmputer command. If it prints you are ok. If it does not and you get paper jam warning, there may be a small piece of paper stuck in the system. You have to open each feeder and see if you find anything. Good luck.

If it jams every copy then it sounds like the paper tray size is not programmed properly. This is also why the print is the wrong direction on the page. So the copier thinks it has 8.5X11 loaded like this > -- and instead it is loaded like this > |
I hope that makes sense. So this not only causes the print to be the wrong direction but since the paper dimension are different that what the machine expects then it throws the sensor timing off and results in a paper jam. So just open your paper trays and check the paper size dials in the trays to make sure they match the paper size AND direction of the paper loaded into that tray.

Your back side of your printer might be loose

The paper detector on the fixing units have a history of going bad. The fixing unit is the hot roller above the drum inside the right door on the top. As the copy comes thru the rollers the paper hits a plastic lever that is spring loaded and located in the middle of the fixing unit. The sensor is all the way to the right side of the fixing assembly. If you move the lever in the middle you'll see a piece of plastic moving on the right, that piece comes out of the sensor and if can't reset the jam, that piece may not be resetting itself back inside the sensor. This is difficult to try to explain.

Make sure the paper that is in the drawer matches the orientation and size indicated on thje Op Panel Display, If NOT, MAKE IT MATCH.

A piece of paper torn from copy paper is caught around registration switch, exit switch or feedshift switch.
so check theme.

First, is the paper being fed at all? If the paper is being fed and jams at the same location then a senor, actuator or switch is bad, out of place or broken. If the device will not clear the jam light, completely power down the device, unplug from wall, let set about 30 sec. to 1 min. and then replug in and see if it reset. If the device did not reset then again a senor, actuator, or switch is out of position ( being held up in the paper path). If the paper does not feed at all then the feed section is the problem. Clean the feed tire (s) the rubber restorer or a high alcohol base cleaner. Listen to hear if the feed tire (s) are even turning. If feed is not turning then it could be clutch, motor or board problem.

Make sure paper is loaded properly (pushed down under the end clips.) There could be a small piece stuck in the rollers somewhere. Look from the side door.

Regular copy paper that I got from the Staples. Same paper in the paper tray/drawer as in the multi-bypass tray. Thanks.
