Re: Voice is dragging
Common problem. A friend's is giving him the silent treatment. Of all the reading I've done, it's related to a corrupted audio file. A reinstall of the system might help but a software update or firmware update most likely would provide a fix.

If you're just driving around and you haven't selected navigate to a destination there will not be a voice. Try navigating to a destination as that is where you will get voice navigation suggestions or commands. If you don't get a voice then, perhaps you need to download a voice or two. This can be done using the Garmin Express software and a computer connected to your Nuvi using the USB cord.
Maybe this will help you some. I have found you the complete manual
which covers most of the models of the Garmin Nuvi. It is the full
manual from start to finish with complete operating procedures as well
as schematics, operation instructions complete with pictures, and
trouble shooting section and even other contact numbers to deal direct
with Garmin, if your model is not covered in this manual.
Also if you can, please rate my solution if you can and some kind words
would be appreciated. I also took the liberty to put my link at the
bottom of this page that directs you to my personal page for all my
areas of expertize, such as Automotive, Appliance, Electronics. Feel
free to check it out anytime and save my link for future problem. Thanks
So, Much Mike.
I would suggest you install the latest updates from the Garmin WebUpdater, and then continue on in the WebUpdater to install English-Jill voice, and set your Garmin GPS to Auto/Car mode (not pedestrian mode), and set the voice to English-Jill, and hopefully your sound will work after that (mine did....).... :)
Go back into your tools and settings and re select the voice of american jack and see if it comes back on.
I lost the voice 2 days ago while on a trip from tenn. to florida and this fixed it. we never shut off the voice but somehow while using bluetooth or FM trans it shut off voice transmiting.
If you deleted the voice files without backing them up you can try running the Garmin WebUpdater software. This program updates the operating software for your GPS and can be used to update maps and other files. It may be possible to reinstall the voice files using WebUpdater. (To download the WebUpdater software go here.)
Some of the Garmin products do have voice files available for download via the Garmin website. (Namely the Quest product.) However the Nuvi 200W does not appear to have such files immediately available for download.
If you aren't able to update the voice files this way I would suggest you give Garmin a call directly.
If you lost "all" sound - click the speaker icon (bottom of screen) and make sure all volume is turned up.
If you lost just the voice prompt for turns etc. This happens when you have an extended period of low battery. You need to reinstall the setup CD for the iQue 3600 go through the motions and HotSync the unit - This will reload your voice files.. Jerry ... email@example.com
The clue is that the voice is slowing and low pitch. The main processor time base has slowed... which means everything will be buggy.
First try would be to Reset the unit. Remove the face cover (GENTLY pry it loose by the fingernail groove directly under the GARMIN logo), press the RESET button, then reattach front cover... this is covered in the owners manual, available online.
If not, then it sounds like a hardware failure... time for a 1-800-800-1020 call (their customer service number)
