Service shop They told me it's a power supply. I just noticed, that we communicate on two postings. The part # you gave me is right. I even have a picture that I can e-mail to you. I hate to change it and find it was a mistake.  Can the power supply be repaired?  I'm not trying to be cheap, but I'm tired to be fixing new things. It seems to be happening more often nowadays.

You are right, it was resistor 3318. Completely out.
The new PS had a bigger one, so apparently Philips realized their mistake and corrected it. Not fair to the customers, who have to pay around $400 for such a repair.
Thanks to you, it cost me less than $100 from Vance Baldwin electronics.
    Thanks again!

Same problem here. Will not turn on and has 6 red blinking lights.

  • Anonymous Jun 08, 2008

For me it was the resistor. As advised, I measured and that one was dead. Had I known that before ordering new power supply, I could fix it for a few cents. The board was not very expensive, with returned core, so I don't mind. If you can solder, follow the advice by jdbouncer, above.
Philips realized their mistake and the new board has that new bigger resistor. It should last now.

Is the power supply completely dead ? If so with this model of power supply its very common for the resistor 3318 on power supply to go out. Causing the power supply to completely die. Take out the resistor 3318 its a 470 Ohm 1W resistor. check it if it doesn't read around 430-530 Ohm Its gonna be bad ( most likely ith will read in the mega ohms. Replace with a 470 Ohm 2 W resistor. Also check power supply for cracks

Hello, I"m having the same problem. My TV will not turn on. The green light will turn on for a few seconds...then the light turns red and it blinks 6 times. Is this post related to model number 37pf9631d/37 ? ... Could it be the resistor issue ?

It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Now i've noticed a crackling + no picture, but still great sound

This is something of an off brand model and about the only advice I have is if someone takes it apart---begin by a physical exam of plugs etc and then do some voltage checks in the power supply.

You might want to also GOOGLE the brand/model number to see if any parts are even available for it.

My guess is parts are slim or do not exist.

Service shop

The power supply can be repair, but many service techs rather not to, because they are switching power supplies and it can be a bit more difficult to fix them.
Many power supply components failed because they are expose to high heat generated internally when the TV is working, if the capacitors are working with temperatures of 170-185 degrees fahrenheit, their life expectancy is about 1000 to 1500 hours.
