You probably have a bad blower wheel. It removes through the front of the dryer.

Maytag epic error code f01

Maytag Epic Gas Dryer

This error code below would be indicated when attempting to start a drying cycle, or after activating the diagnostic test mode.

E1 - flashes if the thermistor is open.

The machine control electronics monitors the exhaust temperture using the thermistor, and cycles the heater relay on and off to maintain desired temperature.
Begin with an empty dryer and a clean lint screen.
  1. Plug in dryer or reconnect power.
  2. Set the following configuration:
Door - must be firmly closed Press CONTROL ON Press CYCLE END SIGNAL (Loud) Press HOLD TO START

If after 60 seconds, E1 or E2 flashes in the display and the dryer shuts off, the thermistor or wire harness is either shorted or open.

  • Unplug dryer or disconnect power
  • Check wire connection at the machine control electronics and thermistor.
  • If wire connections are good, remove the two wires from the thermistor and replace the thermistor.
  • Plug in dryer or reconnect power
NOTE: All thermistor resistance measurements must be made while dryer is unplugged or disconnected from power.

Thermistor resistance: 10 Celsius ----- 19-22 kOhm
16 C ------------ 15-17 kOhm
21 C ------------- 11.5-13.5 kOhm
27 C ------------- 8.5-10.5 kOhm
32 C ------------- 6.8-8.8 kOhm
38 C ------------- 5-7 kOhm

If E1 or E2 doesn't flash in the display, the connections to the thermistor are good. Therefore, check exhaust temperature value at any or all of the temperature levels.
Hold a glass bulb thermometer capable of reading from 32 to 82 Celsius (90-180 F) in the center of the exhaust outlet.

Table below shows correct exhaust temperatures:

No dryer heat

If the coils are bad the unit will light with flame for 4 - 8 times then all of a sudden the ignitor will glow, kick off with no gas coming threw valve. it sounds like the high limit thermostat is short cycling the flame. This is the thermostat that sits on top of the burner chamber. remove 1 screw from the thermostat and blend it upwards away from the heat. Then plug unit back in and test to see if the flame stays on longer. Click here to see maytag dryer no heat posts. Contact me anytime here. Hope this helps..

Maytag gas dryer won't heat up!!! It takes 6+ cycles to dry 1 load! What are the most common problems?

The main cause is a plugged exhaust vent in the wall. Try disconnecting the exhaust vent from the wall and run a normal load. If the load dries properly, then you will need to have the exhaust vent professionally cleaned.
Good luck

Gas dryer won't heat with cover off

The 2 coils on the gas valve , need to be replaced . After the dryer runs for a short time , the coils get warm from the electricity going thru them . The weaker valve , shorts internally , not letting the gas go thru . After the dryer cools down , and the coils cool down , then the short will close ( giving continuity ) , until they warm up again . If you had given the model number , I would have given you the part number .

Maytag dryer only heats for short time

If the dryer has a flame for 2 cycles and then nothing it sounds like your gas coils are failing. Replace them and that should solve your problem
