Code 12 is a gas supply error code or an ignition failure. There is no pilot light in this unit. I would suggest you get a technician in and have him/her inspect the burner tray for a buildup of spider webs or other debris. To do this you will need the burner assembly removed from the heater which involves a number of other parts to be removed first.

Hi lisarinnai
I am assuming it is a Natural Gas Heater. All it probably needs is a good blow out with compressed air. They tend to carbon up in the pilot light area. You will probably also find it is very dusty inside. Easiest way to clean the carbon out is to remove the hose at the heater and with compressed air blow through the fitting where you have removed the hose. Make sure you hold down the start button so the air can get through to the pilot light and jets. Don't connect the electricity for the fan when you do this. Hopefully this should solve the problem. You may want to clean the inside of the heater out as well which mean removing the covers. They tend to get a lot of dust and dirt inside them which doesn't help either. You will just need to follow the screws to establish how to get the panelling off to reveal the inside of the heater. Hope this helps. Regards Bryan

We have a new OFC2400TIF heater. We have set a program which worked for a day. Now the heater will not work on either manual or auto. The display lights are all on, the screen indicates that the heater is...

The heater may need to reset itself. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplug the heater from the wall outlet. Wait 12 - 15 minutes and plug the heater back in. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON and set the controls as you normally would. Hopefully, that 12 - 15 minute timeout allowed the heater to reset itself. If this continues to occur, contact Dimplex Technical Service at

Hope this helps you to further troubleshoot and solve the problem.

My mpi 41 moniter heater will come on for a few minutes and then shuts off and the display window flashes 88:88 plz help!

Do you see any flames before the heater cuts off? If not, check the igniter first. You can check it with an ohmmeter or with a clamp on ammeter. If using an ohmmeter, the igniter resistance should be between 10 - 20 ohms. If using a clamp-on ammeter, clip around just 1 igniter lead and you should get 2 -4 amps.
Does the fuel pump start making a thumping noise before the heater cuts off? It makes this sound when it isn't getting any fuel to it. Check your fuel filter and fuel strainer. Be sure to shut off the kerosene before checking either.
If you do see flames before it cuts off, you need to check the flame rod. Clean it with some steelwool or emory cloth. The flame rod is located next to the window on the combustion chamber and has 1 wire going to it. Unplug the heater before checking.
If this doesn't help, let me know what you have found and I can give you more info.

Plug it in runs fine for a few minutes and cuts off. unplug it for 10 minutes, plug it back in starts to run and cuts off.

Try this link for service manuals:

If the unit runs for just a few minutes you could have a bad safety switch but you need to make sure you have the correct pump pressure.

Try putting your finger over the pump adjustment screw and see if you hear the heater become louder. If you do not hear a change in the sound of the heater you may have a problem with your end cover or pump pressure.

Heatrunner 33553 doesn't work

I had tried unplugging the unit for a few minutes but that didn't work, so I unplugged it for a few hours and it re-set to a working condition.

My heater starts ok but it cut out in a few minutes after i let go of the button

You have a bad thermocouple which is what tells the gas valve to leave the pilot on and allow the main valve to be ready to open fo the main flame. Good news is they are easy to replace. Just remove the old one and take it to a hardware store.

Need to replace part. Short-irratic off/on. Where can I get it?

theis is the safety swith that senses overheating. If the fanmotor cuts off and the heater elements don't, this switch will sense excessive heat and open the circuit for both the heater fan and the heater element(s). If it is "shorted" it is because it is cool and not needing to activate to interrupt the power. The problem I am having is that the switch opens prematurely after just a coule minutes of operation. the unit has to cool down befoe it wll cycle on again for just a few minutes.
Trying to find the part nubmer for the switch.

Try cleaning the two filters at the  back of the heater very thoroughly. It worked for me.
