Canon MP830 Printer

Works fine, but if powered up with the PC caused the PC to 'hang" ie it won't boot up until I downpower the Printer. I use XP Professional.

In the last 2 weeks my Canon MP830 printer has been printing jiberish the first time a print job was sent to it, then when resent it printed properly. Today the printer won't turn on. What can I do ?

Unfortunately these are considered disposable printers.
If it won't power on at all even in a known good power outlet there isn't much you can do as the cost to repair it out of warranty would cost more than to simply replace it.

Other than checking the power outlet and the power cable nothing else to do.

Canon MP830 Scanning from ADF..paper stops halfway, hangs...

I had been moving some furniture and I think I inadvertently knocked a usb cable loose. I also had it going to a hub that was possibly not working. when I made sure everything was hooked up correctly and directly, it was working fine again. I hope this helps someone.

My scanner stopped working yesterday. Tried everything and no luck. Its an MP830 and the printer works fine.

Did you have a storm or lightning? Try unplugging the power cable from the left rear of the machine (not the wall). I have had to do this on several occassions after storms. Good Luck!

Canon MP830 power outage while printing

My MP830 did the same thing today. I thought it was toast. However through a Google search I found the following suggestion.

Unplug the MP830 for 20 minutes or more. Plug the MP830 back in and hit the power button.

To might great relief my MP830 powered up and is working just fine.

PIXMA MP830 no power problem

Hey, I'm glad to have helped. And thanks for letting me know.

One more thing that I found that helps me a lot...if you unplug the printers usb cable from your computer before you boot up or reboot the computer, your boot up time will (most likely) decrease substantially! Depending on your settings, the computer tries to read the memory card slots on the printer in an attempt to boot from them (just like booting from a cd or floppy) which adds major lag time to a boot up. Just plug the cable back in after the boot.

Let me know if this works for you as well!
