I also have the green light in the back flashing, this just started today and no longer turns on, so it is the power supply?

If the light you say is blinking on the back panel is actually on the power supply, and it's blinking, then your power supply is dead/dying and you'll need to replace it. I just fixed one of those a few weeks ago.  They are rather cheap, as you can get them online for low prices. Try www.newegg.com.

Check to be sure your monitor connection needles are seated properly. Is mouse wireless or connected to back of tower?

My monitor no display and light is blinking

Hi,
if the monitor light is blinking this suggests that, there is no display signal coming from the tower. This could be because of the following .

1. Bad video card 2. Bad video software

To check, where the problem is , power of the system tower and remove the power cord from the back of the tower. Press and hold the power buttoon for 10 seconds and the reconnect the power cord and turn the tower on. Check if there is any display or the status of the light changes from amber to green for even a small instance.

If the light changes to green and back to amber the video port on the tower is bad

Alternatively you can connect the monitor to another desktop or laptop to check if the same is working correctly.

Thanks for using fixya

WHEN I TURN IT ON IT DOSENT RECKONIZE THE KEY BOARD, MONITOR OR MOUSE. THE ORANGE LIGHT IS ON IN FRONT NOT THE GREEN LIGHT.

Hi,

Is the power button a steady abmber light?

If so follow the instruction below>>>>

Remove the power cord from the back of the computer. Then open the side casing of the tower and unplug the 24 pin block connector from the motherboard. The 24 pin block connector looks like this >>>>>

Once removed press the on/off button on the computer to dispel and residual power from the motherboard.
Then connect the block connector again and put the side panel back on and then plug the power cord back in and try to boot the computer up.

If its still the same then the power supply inside the computer may need replacing.

Good luck.

I have a dell optiplex sx280 computer and monitor that has lapsed into ''power save mode'' and I have been unable to ''awaken'' it (I'm not sure which is ''asleep'': the monitor or computer!) from sleep. I...

How's the status light of your computer monitor? is it blinking amber? and the status light of your computer tower's power button? blinking amber as well or solid green or no light at all?

1. Disconnect all the connection at the back of your computer tower
2. Press the power button of the computer tower for 15 seconds
3. Reconnect the power button and the monitor cable at the back of your computer tower and turn on the computer (if it turned on that means that one of the device plugged at the back of your computer tower is faulty)
4. If still the same problem, open up your computer tower.
5. Reseat the video card, Reseat Hard drive, Reseat Memory, Reseat CPU, Reseat power cord coming from the CPU to your computer (doing all things one-by-one to pin-point the root cause of the issue)

If none of the troubleshooting steps fixed the problem, possible that the power supply is faulty and if the power supply is faulty sometimes it goes with the motherboard.

System is not workin properly

You might try this. Shut down the computer, disconnect power cords, disconnect everything at the back of the computer, mouse, key board, etc. Open the case, ground yourself by touching an unpainted area of the case and remove the power connectors to ALL optic drives and floppy drive if you have one. (Of course do not disconnect the hdd.)
Reconnect mouse, keyboard, etc., and power cords to wall outlet.
See if it will post now. If it does I say you have a faulty power supply.
I was given a computer which was doa. It would not post, after I tried the above routine it posted then booted to windows.
I replaced the psu and now the computer works fine.
Hope this helps!

Xps 600 tower does not power up the monitor

The system will turn off if you hold down the power button for 10 secs. Can you check if other monitors work fine with this system?? (my best guess is - NO) since this monitor works well with other systems, the monitor being a failure is ruled out. So this boils down to a system failure & not a failed monitor. Worst case scenario this one must be a Motherboard & Power supply issue.

I turned my power off from monitor and tower and turned them back on simutaneously with the F8 key. It worked.
