Tuneup rci 63ffc4 pick & tune get more power

Cant recommend you doing that or letting a common cb shop in it. That thing is a monster a beautiful monster send it back to a RCI authorized shop and protect the warranty they will tweak it to its max with out compromising the durability. Before you do send this unit off i stongly suggest a 100 amp power supply it may be overkill but you might notice a different on a watt-meter

Sorry if this was of little help it might relieve you of a lot of hassle and depression later...... good luck

I am going to need a bit more information then that.

Does it do the same thing with other radio's?
Has any one been inside the radio?

The buzzing can be from either a rectifier in the power supply, or some times there is an issue on some 9600 boards that can cause a buzzing.

If its the power supply, then your receive will be poor because the buzzing is killing it.

RCI 2970 squeels until you unplug the external speaker and plug i

Strange! I used to run almost the same kinda setup but with a super scanner omnibeam, i modded mine myself. At 1 time i had a squeal problem it was in the mic if i remember correctlly i ran a external wire from the screw on the spring inside the mic where the cord comes out to the radio chassis and it stopped it give it a try. I used a simple speaker wire, also you might want to try grounding the radio to the power supply. Sounds like a ground problem! I have a awsome mod for that radio that would enable you to run a regular amp with it and also would enable you to talk local without engaging the amp in the radio using only 4 watts! Let me know how it works out for you with the squeal? if intrested in that mod contact via email at ( put 2970 in the subject line. Take care.
