Get a replacement switch from the manufacture and wire it in properly. You have the windings mixed up from the motor.

How do i run the wire from my fan to a tougle switch on a 95 lumina

The wire that you ran for the positive side of the battery needs to first be ran threw the fire wall to your switch . Then from the switch to the fan . Don't forget to make sure that the fan is blowing the right direction . You can switch the Pos and Neg wires on the fan and it will run the other direction

Direction is reversed on vxl

It actually doesn't matter which wires you switch, you just need to switch 2 of them. Blue <--> yellow, blue<--> white, yellow <--> white; any one of those combinations should do the trick.

My ceiling fan is spinning in the WRONG direction. I know because I have an identical fan spinning in the right direction. How do I get my fan to spin in the right direction? It has been doing this ever...

shut it off, an get up there and see if it has a directional switch, to make it go forward or back wards. also be sure the blades are not upside down on fan motor. the reverse switch should be on the fan motor housing so it can be reversed.

Reverse fan direction with lutron wall switch

Normally the fan direction is reversed with a small switch that is on the side of the fan body. If you wish to accomplish this from a wall switch, then those wires from the internal fan switch would have to be extended to the wall switch. If this is a remote control situation, then your manual should be able to hepl you resolve it.
If you need more detail or assistance please reply with the switch and fan make and model numbers and more detail about the situation ..

If the fan is running at all, you have the capacitor connected properly. Without the cap the motor won't start up. There are only two wires to the cap, and it doesn't matter which one goes to which lead on the part. As long as you connected the same wires that went to the old one to the new one, you did it right.

Most likely, when you had the fan apart to replace the cap you bumped the "winter/summer" switch and reversed the fan direction. Just flip that switch and the fan should be back to spinning the way you want.

Hunter ceiling fan-just installed -possible speed control problem

Sounds like the fan is defective. All internal wiring from the switch to the motor is factory installed. The fan has power going to it. Just to make sure, double check the wiring from the ceiling fixture to the fan.
Problem could be a faulty switch on the fan or faulty motor(bad winding for med. speed). Try reverse switch on the fan to operate the opposite direction and see if medium speed works. If medium does work in opposite direction, it pretty much points to a defective fan. In any case, unless you discover that the ceiling wires were reversed going into the fan, I'd say new fan to the returns dept.

Condenser fan running backwards on heat pump

I am having the same problem, sometimes it runs in the wrong direction, blowing the air down. Sometimes something gets tripped and I need to turn the thermostat to off and wait a bit then restart it. If I am lucky it will run int the correct direction and also will warm the house. Sometimes it send nothing but cold air to the house's forced air.

New Hampton Bay Ceiling fan - runs only in clockwise direction

By using the "switch" to change direction I assume you mean the small slide switch on the side of the fan housing. What you have done is correct and would not affect this switch. The switch is probably bad and you need to return the fan. Suggestion: if the switch is on the housing of the light kit and the light kit connects to the fan with a plug, you are in luck. Go get another fan, swap the light kits and return the fan. Saves you a lot of work. Good luck!
