You need to make sure the music your putting onto the PSP is in MP3 format. Other then that here is the steps to make sure your uploading the music properly:

To get everything working, plug the Sony PSP into the Windows PC via USB cable, plug the PSP into the wall, then turn both units on. On the PSP, click the "USB Connection" button (on the Settings menu) and, hopefully, your PC will beep and tell you that it's found a new "removable disk": your PSP.

Using Windows Explorer, find the new PSP device and if there isn't already a folder named MUSIC then create it and drop in MP3 format music files

Then at this point you should be able to access the music on your psp.

Cant play music

go to SETTINGS; then to NETWORK UPDATE, run this and it will update your psp to the newest firmware, maybe fixing any errors in the current firmware. Please let me know if this helps. You also must format your stick to the new firmware, just format once you have updated!

Memory stick

If I remember correctly, you have to hook up your psp to the computer, then go to My Computer and click on it. There should be a number of files, one of which is "Music", You then make a new folder with the name of the artist and put the music in there. That should do it, but I havent had a psp in a while so my info might be a little off. But, I did find this video on YouTube, so it should help.

Music from my pc

Best thing to do is to do a copy and paste from that folder with the music on your PC to the drive letter of the PSP to the location of where you want the music to go.

Loading music on psp

All music placed on the PSP's memory stick must be placed in the folder labeled "MUSIC". Within this folder, you may place .mp3 or .wma files, or create another folder within the MUSIC folder (to separate by artist or album, for example).

Note that the music must be in either the folder MUSIC or in a folder inside MUSIC. In other words, you can't have the music in a folder that's in a folder that's in MUSIC.

How do i play music on psp

Hey minimart,

If you kept all of the MP3's in the same file structure they were on your computer, this might explain why you are encountering this problem. Unlike some regular MP3 players, the PSP is unable to recognize anything beyond two folder levels. As an example, while your computer would be able to determine what "Music > Artist > Album > Songs" means, the PSP is not able to read anything beyond the "Artist" subfolder.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

How do i load music

heh heh... Okay, Make sure you're downloading them into the music folder on your memory stick. (You may have to create a folder that says "Music". The instructions manual tells you everything.)

Another problem is: 8385ace.jpg This is a pic of the instructions manual. It shows that you cannot save music within a folder inside another folder. When the PSP tries to read music, it searches in the "Music" folder. If there is another folder within the "Music" folder with music in it, the PSP can play it. But, if there is a folder in another folder, the PSP cannot find it and says there is no music. (That is really hard to explain!) Look at the picture and you'll get it. ^-^; If there are any questions you want to ask, please do!
