Question about Whirlpool LEQ9858P Electric Dryer

1 Answer

Whirlpool Electic Dryer GEQ9800PB1 --- Won't start?

This worked flawlessly on Saturday, but come Monday - no go?
The outlet shows positive electricity on the meter, circuit breaker was not disturbed but reset anyway. Changed light bulb inside, and plugged back and still no light. (Confirmed new bulb was working). I have read some of the manual and was curious how to rule on things like thermal fuses, etc. Is there something we can do do ourselves or do we have to call in an expert? Thanks, Chrissy

Warning! To avoid personal injury or even death, always disconnect your appliance from its power source--that is, unplug it or break the connection at the circuit breaker or fuse box--before you do any troubleshooting or repair work on your appliance. Also, because some components may have sharp edges, use caution while working on your appliance.
Below is a link to common solutions that will help you with parts and diagnostic procedures that are specifically tuned to your manufacturers data plate information.
It provides exploded view imagery, belt routing diagrams, parts imagery and function, parts ordering and shipping information, error code details, just about anything you need to get your appliance up and running again.

Tip: Always provide the complete information provided on the manufacturers product information data tag, located on the unit, and not in the user’s manual. This will help you acquire a more accurate and expeditious response to your complaint.

If this doesn't help, post me back and I will do some more research to help resolve your issue.

NED4600YQ1 Amana dryer won't turn on

Electric dryer no start does nothing

Check dryer Terminal block prongs both outside prongs should give combined 220, and 110 each if u check 1 outside & 1 center (ground) prong. Also check house electrical outlet for full voltage.

CHECK THERMAL SHUT OFF THERMOSTAT USUALLY LOCATED ON THE BLOWER. for OHMS or resistance with a meter. Should show a closed circuit. Ohms WHEN THIS FUSE BLOWS IT WILL SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING.

NEXT Test the PUSH start switch with meter for OHMS. Should show OHMS when pushed in or on start, and no ohms or infinity when in off position.

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay/capacitor on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings

Another thing to check is the belt safety switch. With a multi meter.
Especially if u just replaced the belt. The belt safety switch is attached to the Tensioner and motor. IT LOOKS LIKE A DOOR SWITCH SOMEWHAT a little black pc of plastic with 2 prongs going into it. Sits at bottom of motor. Under the Tensioner. Attach meter clips to the 2 prongs on switch, Then when the little white push button is pressed in it should show continuity and none when released.

Lastly check ur DOOR SWITCH for continuity with a meter when the button is pushed in the (on/Door closed position,) it may have gone bad.

Is the circuit breaker turned on? Most people turn 220 v outlets off if not being used.

Can I use my electric dryer in a gas home?

as long as you have an outlet for an electric dryer you can there are 2 types of outlets one has 3 prongs and the other has 4 prongs you may need to change the plug on you dryer this is symple to do if you dont have an outlet you will have to have one installed i would recomend just buying a gas dryer and selling you old electric one gas dryres work better and and are more dependable and more cost effective to use
i repair dryres and for every 100 electic dryers i fix i fix one gas dryer

Its possible that the thermal fuse is bad and needs replacing. Could have been caused by partial plugged hose to include where it hooks up. When it senses that its too hot it will blow that fuse. Hope this helped.

Dryer will not start

Your dryer may not be receiving adequate voltage to start. Make sure your dryer is plugged in. Also, check the circuit breaker panel to make sure all the circuit breakers are in the correct positions. Or check to make sure no fuses in the fuse panel are blown. Try plugging something else into the same outlet. If it won't work either, then there is likely something wrong with the power outlet. Any of these could be the reason power is not getting to your dryer. Also, refrain from using an extension cord to plug your dryer in.
