I have a 6 year old Pakard bell imedia 1517 computer. Due to a major problem I had to reinstall windows and lost all my drivers. I have found all the drivers on the packard bell website for my machine but...

Did you narrow it down by operating system? 50 drivers sounds like a lot!

actually I took a look myself and (providing you were looking the same as me at ftp://ftp.download.packardbell.com/DESKTOP/iMedia%20(2004-2005)/Driver/Xp/) I can see what you mean. I can help a little though.
Right click on My Computer and choose manage, then look in device manager for devices with a question mark. Tell me which ones you have in there and I will try to find you the appropriate one to use :)
Essentially there are many different options for the same thing, some systems will have been built with a radeon graphics card and others may have been built with an ati card, so they put up drivers for all the different types. Realtek or SoundMax means soundcard, Graphics is ATI, Realtek, NVidia, or onboard like Intel.

DVD ROM not responding. The icon is also not shown in 'My Computer'

If you cannot eject the tray that means the power to your DVD ROM is not connected, You need to open the computer panel to the side and inspect the connections, make sure they are tightly connected. Be sure to power off your PC and unplug it from min power source before you do this.

Replacing DVD/RW-R drive on HP ze2000

very simple, just remove the casing then disconnect the wires from power supply colored yellow, black, red (connector) to dvd rom, then disconnect the cable ribbon to dvd rom unscrew the dvd to the casing then slide out the dvd rom backward( if you are facing the cpu) bfore you install the replacement, you need to check your dvd rom which you have taken out and compare the jumper orientation to your new dvd rom. if the old one is in cable select or in primary or in slave just follow the old one. now if you are finish checking the jumper orientation, you may proceed in installing your dvd rom on casing, install back the screw on bothe sides and all the connectors. power on thats it your finish just proceed to the my computer and check if this appears in it or in the device manager. i hope that this helps you, any questions or clarifications feel free to ask me.

CD ROM CR-589

Hi, A couple of possibilities: With a known good DVD with files inserted into your Compaq CR-589, double click in your My Computer, double click in your CD/DVD. 1. If it opens and displays the content, then there is nothing wrong with your DVD but the auto start feature of your OS was disabled, enable auto start; 2. If in My Computer or in Device Manager, the DVD doesn't show up, then it can be hardware problem, IDE/power cable problem, bios did not recognize DVD device, replace if and as needed; 3. If the DVD is in My Computer but will not display the files or contents, possibly defective DVD, replace. Hope this worksa out for you. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.
