Question about Printers & Copiers

I have a Canon i9100 Injet printer that stops printing certain colors(cyan). I just changed the printhead and it printed six pages of a color calendar and then the cyan dropped out of the color spectrum. I have tried running the cleaning and deep cleaning cycle to no avail. Any ideas?

    I have exactly what you describe. It happened after about six months for the first time and I have been unable to stop it ever since.

Canon pixma mx882 won't print red


Regarding your Canon MX882 printer's poor print quality (lack of color printing performance from Canon 225 or 226 ink cartridges), it sounds like your PRINTHEAD is either clogged (from dried ink) or has reached it's END-OF-LIFE, to help determine which please perform the following steps (if you have already performed a step, please continue to the next step in the order shown):

1.Go into the printer's maintenance/tools menu and print a print quality test (i.e. heading cleaning, nozzle test or similar) to help identify which color (of number of colors) is impacted.

NOTE: To help determine which color has run out, use the following suggestions in sequence until you are able to identify the empty color: 1) Generate a Print Quality Test Page from your printer control panel; a faded color band indicates empty. 2) To distinguish between a black and photo black cartridge, print a text document and/or a photo. Faded black in a text document indicates the black cartridge is empty; faded black in a photo indicates the photo black cartridge is empty. 3) To distinguish between cyan, yellow, and magenta click here: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=146 A faded or missing color band indicates empty.

2.At the printer's control panel under the 'Maintenance' or 'Tools' menu, activate a 'CLEANING' or 'HEAD CLEANING' to prime the ink system.     3.Check your user's manual to see if there are any procedures on cleaning the service station/capping station assembly (this is where the carriage/cartridges 'park' when not in use). A dirty service station can cause all kinds of improper color output problems (assuming the printhead is working correctly of course). NOTE: May not be applicable for your model depending on the printer design.

      6.If this does not remedy the problem, then one or more of the ink ports may be dry within the PRINTHEAD assembly (the ink cartridges physically connect to this electronic assembly).         8.If the problem persists, then you may have a damaged PRINTHEAD (worst case scenario), unrelated to the refilled cartridges. The printhead is a separate electronic assembly (which the cartridges are installed into) and is responsible for firing the ink drops onto the paper.         IIT (individual ink tank-based) printer models have an electronic PRINTHEAD within the base of the carriage assembly (responsible for pulling ink from the 4, 5 or 6 ink cartridges and then firing the ink droplets onto the paper) - these will eventually fail depending on print usage type and printer duty cycle (i.e. rated for approximately 10,000 printed pages over life, but the consumer average is typically closer ~4,000-5,000 thruput pages).         Typically the printhead should not reach it's end-of-life until after a minimum of 8 or more complete sets of cartridge changes. While some printheads may last 10,000+ pages others may only last 2000 pages, actual results will vary. The printhead will eventually fail in time due to an internal micro-electronics failure, due to the following leading factors: general customer print usage and printer care, printer duty cycle (i.e. # pages printed per month), printing frequency (i.e. time between each print job), print mode (i.e. draft vs. normal) and content printed (i.e. photos vs plain pages) and color mode (black and white only vs. color/greyscale printing).

        Paper types used (i.e. plain paper, photo papers & matte/heavy bond papers) and paper edge curl (i.e. duration in printer and/or exposure to low relative humidity) can also quickly lead to premature printhead failures due to physical 'head strikes' of the paper edges making repeated contact with the printhead nozzle plate surfaces.

Canon i9100: colors printing incorrectly


I've had the Canon i9100 since 2003 and have excellent photo printing results. In 2009 it started playing up and I'd gt some banding. More recently, black didn't want to print. It was as though the black ink in the print head got dry some days.

April 2010 - The colours started printing strange and I bought a brand new print head and installed it. Only takes a minute. Still had an issue with photo printing. Black and white was excellent but colours weren't true.

Found advice online to try cleaning the print head to print head carrier electrical contacts by rubbing them with a rubber eraser.

I did that and now I'm getting perfect colour photo prints again.

I had been thinking about buying a new A3+ printer but this is old printer is now working as good as new.

MP830 Canon - NOZZLE CHECK does not print light cyan line


You will need a new printhead, QY6-0061-000, runs around $60.00 well worth it for your machine.

I have an 8-year old Canon i9100, and have just installed my third brand new Print Head. It worked fine for one month, then the black started fading and then just stopped printing. All the other colors...


It is probably a bad purge assembly, when it doesn't clean or prime the printhead properly you have the problems you are describing. There are 2 sections in the purge assembly, one cleans color and the other cleans the black. Sounds like the black pump is worn out. The part runs around $30.00

IP4300 only recognizes magenta OR cyan


1. Get compressed air
2. Run Printhead under HOT water, do not worry about contacts getting slightly wet.

3. Blow compressed air with straw attachment into screens where the cartridge nozzle sits on printhead. then let it sit and dry.

4. reinstall print test page

5. if this fails open paint/photoshop and print a page of the color that is not printing correctly. rinse and repeat until colors flow freely.

I have several ip4300s and I have yet to give up the ghost on a printer with a clog ujsing this method.

Streaks though the pages


Step one: Retry the print job The problem may occur only rarely. If you have not seen it in other printouts, try again. Step two: Increase the print quality mode If reprinting did not help, try increasing the print quality mode.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected, and then click Properties .
  3. Select the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. In the Print Quality area, choose the next higher quality setting. If the current setting is Draft, choose Normal. If the current setting is Normal, choose Best.
Step three: Print in grayscale (black area streaking only) If the streaks are in a black area of a black and white printout, change to grayscale printing. NOTE: This step does not apply to color printouts.
  1. In the application you are printing from, click File , and then click Print .
  2. Make sure the printer is selected and click Properties .
  3. Click the Color tab, and select Print Grayscale and High Quality .
Step four: Clean the printheads If the print quality is still bad, clean the printheads.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open HP Solution Center .
  3. Click Settings , Print Settings , and then select Printer Toolbox .
  4. Click the Service Tab .
  5. Click Clean Printhead , and then click Clean .
Step five: Align the printheads If the print quality is still bad, align the printheads.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open the printer Toolbox , and select the Printer Services tab.
  3. Click Align Printheads . The Align Printheads window opens. Click Align .
  4. The printer prints an alignment page. The lines in the patterns should appear to be straight. Click OK when the page finishes printing.
Step six: Calibrate the linefeed If the print quality is still bad, calibrate the linefeed:
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Open the printer Toolbox and select the Printer Services tab.
  3. Click Calibrate Advanced Linefeed . The Advanced Linefeed Calibration window opens. Click OK .
Step seven: Replace one or both printheads If the print quality is still bad after performing all the above steps, one or both of the printheads will have to be replaced. Print a PQ Diagnostic page to see which printhead should be replaced.
  1. Make sure the printer is loaded with unused white paper.
  2. Press the Setup button.
  3. Press 1 and * simultaneously.
  4. Look at the color blocks labeled Test Pattern 2. Some or all of them could show white horizontal streaks. If none of the blocks are streaked, the printheads are okay.
    • If the Black block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
    • If the Cyan block has lines – replace the MC printhead.
    • If the Magenta block has lines – replace the MC printhead.
    • If the Red block has lines – replace the KY printhead.
    • If the Green block has lines – replace the KY printhead.

Lots of paper, but practically no printing


Are you using a canon? It may be that the printhead is clogged up. Try "clean printhead" option supplied with the driver. Canon printers have separate ink and printhead unlike other brands. You may also replace the printhead if cleaning doesn't help.

Canon MP 730 prints wrong color tones


I was having a similar problem-- what was happening was the print cartridge head seemed to be letting the colors leak into each other. (the science behind this is beyond me!)-- I noticed that instead of being cyan/magenta/yellow, my yellow cartridge had actually turned green, magenta was picking up blue and was turning purple, etc etc. I ended up replacing the printer's printhead and all the color cartridges and then it worked.
You can order printheads online.
Not sure if this fixes the original reason why they got all mixed up in the first place-- if the printer will continue to allow the print head to leak the colors into each other-- but hopefully that's a fixit!

Photo printing


It is definite one cartridge is not running. You do one thing - 1. Write documents in MS-Word - select all - change the color to Red. Take print out. Check Printing is perfect or not.
2. Write documents in MS-Word - select all - change the color to Cyan. Take print out. Check Printing is perfect or not.
3. Write documents in MS-Word - select all - change the color to Yellow. Take print out. Check Printing is perfect or not.
I am sure when you changed the color to Cyan - it did not print Cyan or blank page you got.
So you must replace the Cyan cartridge or may be ink is not coming out through the passage. And first you have to check whether you have removed the plastic tape from the head of t he cartridge.
