Olympus FE-170 6.0 will not take pictures.

Hi there, my camera (Olympus FE-170 6.0) will not take pictures. It turns on when you press the power button but gives me a black screen. It does allow me to view photos taken when you press the button with the little green arrow (the one that allows you to view pictures taken.) It also turns on when you press this same button and in order to retract the lense you have to use this button and not the power button. Can you please help me with this problem?
Thank you
Sandy

I had the same exact problem. The lens is not extending out fully or correctly, probably has broken or damaged gear or gears and needs to be replaced. Expensive repair done by Olympus. It is a very tricky and fragile repair on your own, requiring micro screwdrivers and soldering tool. I replaced my own lens but it was hard to find one.

MY Olympus fe-170 has a broker screen, how can I get my pictures off of my camera?

Connect this to your computer via USB ..and wait.
Then press OK button on the camrea onece (this will "blindly" accept connection to the PC MODE)..
In a few seconds you will have a Removable Drive available in My Computer folder (Windows) or you will see iut on the desktop (Mac) ... Copy your pictures out of the DCIM folder to your computer ;-) ..
Or .. replace a screen ... I have a "parts-out" FE-170 with a good screen - easy to replace ... write back if you want it [email protected]

Morning. I have an Olymous FE-170 Digital Camera.

Sounds as if this may be a repair issue with the camera. You may want to call Olympus customer service to discuss their repair policy. Their telephone number is 800-622-6372 option 2 and then option 3.

Olympus fe-170 camera

Hey carjoe,
I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. You could bring it to a Geek Squad® precinct in one of our Best Buy™ stores, and an agent can look at the camera and if need be send it out for service.

Sincerely,
Allan

Problem in Olympus FE-170 Digital Camera

Press the power button on and hold it down while extending and twisting the telescopic zoom lens. It might fix your problem. In any case it could not make it worse Good luck!
