Please note that I am in the UKwhich may make a difference(?) but I want to use it on trips to USA (its a quad band) and I am losing confidence that it will work properly
I took over the phone when its former owner got a free upgrade but I have lost contact with him.
He said the phone was unlocked and that the opening O2 display would not be a problem. The phone does work but with ongoing complications. I am keen to stay with t-mobile payg because I am still on an old tariff, much cheaper than any current tariff and with free access to voicemail.
The complications:
1. Whenever I switch on I always have a voice mail: “Welcome to the T-mobile voicemail service. Your voicemail access number has been sent to your phone. Please now switch your phone off and then on again. In future you can access your voicemail by pressing the relevant voicemail key or via the option in your phones menu. You have no new messages in your mail box.”
Deleting the message does not help, it’s always there again after switch-on.
2. I get screen messages “Not enough memory to receive sim messages. Delete some data first”. I suspect this is related to the first problem - perhaps I am also getting repeated set-up messages from t-mobile? I’d like to know how to stop whatever it is filling the memory.
3. I cant find out how to delete the data which is filling the memory despite carefully reading the instruction book.
I have visited two phone shops who couldn’t help but I did pick up two suggestions: “Your phone may be unlocked but O2 probably booby-trapped the software to make it impracticable to use a non-O2 sim……mobile companies tend to do this in their more expensive phones” and “Don’t call t-mobile because they might spot the old tariff and immediately upgrade you to a more expensive one”.
