Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Error F03 My Technics can only play/record on one side of tape, flips to beginning of side two then stops abruptly displaying F03. It will not rewind or fast forward for longer than a second then displays F03. I use its other tape deck for rewinding or playing both sides.

I suspect that only one capstan works, The belt driving it might be broken or something else on the drive.

I can't find the manual to my Technics RS-TR272 Stereo Cassette Deck. How do you tape something on one cassette to another?

Place the tape you want to record into the left deck, Then the blank tape into the right deck. Press play on the left deck and record on the right deck.

It may be opposite depending on which side your recording deck is on.

Which ever deck has record, place blank cassette into that one and the cassette you want to copy into the other deck.

Hope this helps and please rate thanks

for a start your title says "Problem with the Technics RS-TR272 Single Cassette Deck"
So is it a single or double?
i'm assuming it's a double, right only one of the decks records so put the blank tape into it make sure the tabs on the top of the tape haven't been broke or you'll need to cover the holes with the labels you get with the tape.
put the tape with the music on it, in the other deck rewind them both then press "sync rec" & they should both set off.

This is a relative simplerepair for any audio shop. The belts and/or idler have dried up and are slipping. The whirring you hear is the motor spinning, but the tape hubs are not turning. When in play mode, the take-up side is not turning. There are safety circuits inside that detect that the take-up side is not turning and that circuit stops the tape to prevent it from collecting inside the unit and damaging the tape. Plan on $15 or so for all the rubber parts for this repair.

Sounds like the tape tension sensor is stuck. The sensor is always telling the mechanism that the tape has reached the end.
