Question about Televison & Video
I am attempting to repair this tv for a friend of mine that has no money to pay for repairs at a shop.
I find that there are NO loose connections, broken parts or bad solder joints.
There is no odor of something over-heating. A complete visual inspection has been done, as well as "TAP" tests looking for opens... none found.
Description of problem... Vertical is intermittently shrinking after a bit of a warmup, but it sometimes works for longer periods. It folds over and drops to the lower portion of screen and has about 1/4 vertical deflection with the fold over included.
This tv will work for awhile and then snaps to this problem as above described. The chasis has no indications of section identification marking which would help ID the areas I wish to test. If I had a schematic, or repair manual, or even a photo showing where the sections and parts are located it would help me alot. Can someone help me with this difficulty, or schematics, or whatever?
Thank you in advance...
Look for the vertical IC. It should be a small flat IC attached to a heatsink and marked something like LA7837. The IC will have a circuit designation like ICxxx. For example IC301. Check all of the caps in the same circuit (C3xx). One or more are bad &/or intermittant. Start there and keep us posted.
