Oster Golden A5 1-Speed

Hi - I have successfully disassembled the blade assembly of my clippers and now cannot get it back together. I have four metal pieces: 2 consist of 1 short blade, 1 longer blade; 2 consist of one u-shaped metal piece, the other fits in the u-shaped metal piece and 2 short screws.

Can you tell me in elementary terms how to reassemble this little jewel? Obviously, I am mechanically challenged.
Thanks
Judy

Mine is a two-speed model, but with the same issue. Anyone know where I can find an instruction manual?

Hi Judy.

There is a flat metal component in the center of the clipper head (not the blade) that measures approx 1/2" by 3/4". It is hinged on the side next to where your finger presses the release tab. Use a screwdriver to gently pry up this piece of metal on the opposite side (side closest to the cutting end of the head). Pressing the release tab will keep this hinged component angled up, at which time you can slide on a blade. This hinged component becomes inserted into the blade, holding it tight to the clipper body.

hi, if you look at the blade while its attatched to your clipper, at the back edge of the blade there is a black metal peice called a Latch push this towards the blade and pull the front edge away from the clipper it will hinge away then you can pull it straight off.
As for an instruction manual if you have no luck contact us and we can send one to you.

Oster A-5 Golden clipper blade is not flush against the clipper so wont clip you have to hold the blade down tight so it will clip.

see if the blade and hinge have moved away from the body of the clipper, the two screws either side of the hinge assembly may need tightening, or the main body may need replacing,
If its just one blade then there must be a problem with that blade.

Oster clippers blade

John! No Problem!
First put the bigger of the two blades witht the size/number facing down, put the cutter on top. (with the side with the flat side of the teeth facing down) Then put the tongue guide inside the tension spring, make sure the tension spring rail is on the tension rail and place them on top of the cutter. To see which bits these are go to: http://www.sheareaseltd.com/clipper-blade-sharpening/clipper-blades-the-parts
This picture whows the front and back, it differs slightly from your blade, but its same meat different gravy!

Hold all this together with your finger and thumb, flip it over and scre the whole lot together!

Blades fell off oster dog clippers but can't fit them back on. Please help !!

Assuming that you did not damage anything, the blades should go back on easily.
Slide the blade onto the hinged flat 'post'. Turn the clipper on. Fold closed the blade assembly into position against the clipper body.

If this does not ork, you must have damaged something.

Using T-84 Andis blade for horses and cutting

Check the two screws either side of the hinge assembly make sure they are tight, the problem appears to be with the clipper if all blades do the same.

I took the blade apart and can't figure out how to put them back together. Can you help.

the oster clippers are usually mounted with spring tab to remove blade.Should be no reassembling. If there is, it should be a couple of screws that you screw in

Can't put on a new blade

start the clippers then slide the blade onto the tongue of the hinge assembly , now push the blade into the clipper don't be afraid sometimes they can be tight from new,
Just make sure the two screws either side of the hinge are tight.

Can get it right

If the clippers are new, it is not likely that the problem is internal. Sometimes, when the blade is put on the clipper, it needs an extra little push to clip firmly behind the blade catch (you can hear a little click). Try that.

Blade change problem & no info in enclosed instructions

Hi A5 blades are not made to be unscrewed. They are snap on blades. You can call 800-830-3678 which is Oster Direct consumer service. They will walk you though the process or you can send them back to Oster and they will put them back together and realign them for you. Hope that helps.
