Question about GE Kitchen Ranges
The burners work. The broiler turns on. I attempted to preheat the oven last night and it never came on. The oven is not working. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? Ignitor is what someone told me? or could it be something else?
Called a reepairman who couldn't even figure out how to take the range door off. I called the GE Support Line and they gave me directions on how to take the door off. I ended up paying this guy $137.00 for me to basically do the repair myself ($62 for the part and $75 for labor). The ignitor was replaced. I just hope it will keep working. You smell alot of burning when the oven is on now. The old ignitor had burn spots on the wires as though they had caught fire. The old ignitor also had wire covers and the new ignitor does not have these (wires are exposed and very thin). When I asked the repairman about some other issues. He had no clue as how to respond. Don't call the repairman!!! You can replace the ignitor yourself.
