your best bet would be to try Ebay or something like that. These units were discontinued late 1999/early 2000 and no parts are available for it.

my best suggestion in this case is to invest what you would spend on the powerhead into a newer cannister. Some of the newer units have better filtration and suction than the lightning cannister does.

# 1 myou just take the bag out make sure ytou sponge filter is in place athe top and turn it on the power switch just turns on ,machine ther is no wet dry switch just an empty bagless cannister is all you need make sure the ball outlet in vacumn is working it stops water from overfilling cannister # 2 just use the proper bag and attachment to vacumn up the drywall dust a good building supply store has special sanding attachments for vacumn so you can sand and vacumn at the same time

the filter should be easily accessable on the right side of the vacum cleaner if it's facing you. at the base of the vacum there is a large round cover that is removable and behind it it the filter. generally you dont need to replace it. its a big round spunge that you could rinse with water and squeeze out until it's clean. you also need to rinse the filter cover which is like a plastic netting. let it dry for 24 hours and you should be good to go!

I replaced the motor for nothing.There are two filters and the cannister give them good cleanings with an air gun.

Probably a hose clog. Check the hose on the back of the cannister. Most likely clogged where it attaches to allow debris into the cannister. If cannister is not filling up, that's a sure sign. To remove from top of back of cannister, just turn the ring on the end of the hose to release. Take it outside and push a long thin object through it to force out the clogged hair or debris. The motor is designed to shut off the vacuum cleaner for 30 minutes when this happens to avoid burning up your motor.

The hepta filter has a place on each side to push in.The top
comes off and the filter is inside.The new one is about 24.00.
Remember to clean the dust filter .This is located in a chamber
below the cannister . Remove the cannister and there is a grey plastic tab,it will comes up and dust filter is right there-pinch
it and it will peal out.It can be hand washed and air dried.
