With most units you can't do that. The fridge gets it's cold air from the freezer side. The air is blown through a vent at the top. Samsung is one kind that has a separate unit for fridge and freezer and could possible be cut off separately but most can not.

1998 GT22DKXGN00 refrigerator freezes, where is thermostat in refrigerator ? This is a Whirlpool

Check refrigerator and freezer temperature. If the freezer is above 0 degrees Fahrenheit it is likely the cooling capacity of the unit has reduced due to low charge or weak compressor. What usually happens is that the freezer is not able to reach the proper temperature and the unit runs continuously. The result is that the refrigerator via the freezer-refrigerator air flow connection freezes.

"This is not intuitive", but the logic is that from the compressor running continuously the freezing air that flows into the refrigerator side results in that the refrigerator will freeze,.

Check the temperatures. If the freezer is above 10 degrees F it is almost certianty the cooling capacity has been reduced.

If equipped with an ice maker the output of the ice-maker will also reduce with this problem

It is possible to have the compressor replaced but not usually cost effective.

Is my Dometic refrigerator/freezer suppose to be frost free?

Hi Mrs Sandy! With regards to your concern, I believe that specific model of Domestic Refrigerator is not exactly a "no-frost" fridge, although it has a technology to reduce or prolong the time before it actually accumulate "frost" in its cavity.

SAFELY REMOVING DOORS FOR SHIPPING

Good Morning Jill,

I see that you are trying to remove the doors on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS23R4A, for shipping purposes. Below are the instructions you will need to follow for both the refrigerator and freezer doors.

DOOR REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS:
If it is necessary to move the refrigerator through narrow doorways, follow these steps to remove the doors.
IMPORTANT: Before you begin, turn your freezer and fresh food controls to "O" and remove electrical power cord from the wall outlet. Remove any food from the door shelves.

1. Disconnect electrical supply.
2. Open both doors, then remove toe grille.
3. Close doors.

To Remove Refrigerator Door:

1. Remove top hinge cover screw on refrigerator door and remove cover.
2. Trace around hinge with soft lead pencil. This will make it easier to realign doors when they are replaced.
3. Remove top hinge and lift refrigerator door off bottom hinge pin. Set door aside.
4. Remove bottom hinge, if necessary.
5. Reverse this procedure to reinstall refrigerator door.

To Remove Freezer Door:

1. Disconnect water line coming from lower hinge of freezer door at connection located under front of freezer: Press outer ring against face of fitting, then pull to remove tube.
2. Remove top hinge cover screw on freezer door and remove cover.
3. Disconnect wiring harness connector plug at top hinge: place your thumbs on flat sides of each connector and bend both parts back and forth, then with firm grasp, pull both pieces apart.
4. Trace around hinge with soft lead pencil. This will make it easier to realign doors when they are replaced.
5. Remove top hinge, allowing wiring harness to pull through hinge and lift freezer door off of bottom hinge pin. Lay door down flat to avoid kinking water line.
6. Remove bottom hinge, if necessary.
7. Reverse this procedure to reinstall freezer door.

When both doors have been reinstalled, connect water line by inserting tube and push until mark touches face of fitting, replace toe grille and plug in electrical power cord. Turn both temperature controls to center position. Adjust settings as necessary. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Condensate dripping from the freezer through the openings in the top of the refrigerator ( behind the light). Do i need to defrost? Also get some water that sits in the bottom of the freezer.

Hello,

It sounds to me like your refrig. is defrosting as it's suppose to automatically but the drain in the freezer is blocked so instead of the defrost water water running through the drain to the pan in the bottom of refrig, where it evaperates and you don't need to empty the pan, instead of that since freezer drain is blocked so the water is running into the fresh food compartment.

The freezer is working fine and I hear the fan in the freezer working when I open the door, however the refrigerator is not getting enough cold air into it. I place my hand under the vent where the air is...

The "control" on the freezer section is simply a mechanical air valve and controls how much freezer air actually goes into the refrigerator section. No electronics here at all.

So, IF not enough air is coming into the refrigerator, LOWER the setting on the Freezer Control .... mine has letters A B C D E try "B" and see what happens. You should feel an increased air flow at the air vent.

You may have to INCREASE the "Fresh Food Control" control to a HIGHER setting to compinsate for directing more air out out the freezer ... try 6, 7, or 8. This IS an electronic control and controls the ENTIRE refigerator's cold generation.

If this don't work, there is some other problem, like the defrost heater is out and there is lots of ice behind the back freezer wall stopping or reducing the air flow.
