Star TSP400 label printer Hi, have the following problem: Just put in new paper roll. Now all red lights are on, beep sound indicated that something is wrong and I get no response at all when I want to print. This happens sometimes automatically as well, usually helps when turning off and on again, but now nothing works. Pleeease give me some support! thanks

I had the identical problem recently with a new batch of ticket stock in a TSP400. It was eventually solved by cleaning the roller at the front of the print-head with alcohol (surgical spirit).

The roller had no visible dirt on it but may have been greasy, and the feed mechanism is clearly very sensitive to such things. It turned out that our ticket stock had been recently re-sourced and the new paper was slightly smoother than the old.

My Star TSP600 Thermal Printer is displaying a flashing Error light. Power light on, new roll of paper loaded correctly, self-test was ineffective - nothing printed. What's my next step?

i know you stated you put the paper in correctlyin the printer but if the thermal reactive side of the paper is not facing the print head the thermal paper won't print on the wrong side of the paper. it will load into the printer and seem ok but the heat on the wrong side of the paper will not react and show any writing. Can you try turning the paper over in the printer feed holder so the other side of the paper faces the print head and give it another test .

Hi Chris!
As you described, I didn't see anything would cause the problem. Just suggest that you could give it a clean. Sometime just because you use it for a while(finish a toner cartridge), it get dirty. Unplug the power, and gentl take out the cartridge, paper tray then clean the roll and surround with wet clean paper. Give it a try and see what happen. Please make sure that you do it gentle when put back things.

Looks like you'll have to contact Samsung http://www.samsungminiprinters.com

The operators manual does not give any indication about what to look for if the error light is on.

Here's what the manual states about the paper light:
This light indicates the near end of the paper roll. Install a new paper roll and the printer will continue printing. When the light blinks, it indicates the self-test printing standby state or macro execution Standby state when the macro execution command is used.

OK, more information is needed. What kind of printer? Is it out of ink? This may sound stupid, but is it plugged in to the computer? Let me know :)

Were the new labels thermal paper? Thermal printers need specially made paper to work right.

Cannot Install it Successfully

Restart you computer. Turn your printer off, wait 20 seconds and turn it back on again. Load up software you use to talk to the printer.

Flashing red light

Hi Quadralady,
I found these possibilities listed in the manual:

1. Perform media length sensing.
2. Possible problem with label stock. Use only approved
labels and tags.
3. Possible label jam.
4. Insufficient memory for label size. Check the printer
memory configuration.
5. Possible software problem. Refer to the programming
manual.

All lights on, no response from printer

It's possible there might be dust and dirt inside the printer. You might try blowing some canned air into it, and if it's not too heavy, turn it upside down and shake it. Surprisingly, this fixes the problem alot of the time.
