If you havw downloaded illegally, then the source material may not be compatible, also make sure that you have "Finalised" the disk so that it cannot be written on again and set up to actually play on your device, but do remember that not all devices read downloaded or copied files/films.

Year old S350 plays normal DVDs happily but (recently) wont load up Blu Ray disks. Grinds away loading and eventually says disc not recognised.

Hi:
This is due to a faulty optics lens or mech assembly, the laser used for normal DVS's are red but when Blue ray is inserted the laster uses blue light or blue laser, you may have a defective laser.

maybe the spindle motor is defective so it cannot read the disc. just bring that your dvd to sony service center to fix your dvd.

I have the first ps3 type and i have cod6 but now it wont show anything so i thought it was the disk so i bought a new disk and that wont work so it is the ps3, but al my other games work

Most likely a dying lens. Replacement or cleaning is the only method of repair. It is very easy to damage one however.

My PS3 plays blue ray movies,dvds,ps2 and ps 1 and no ps3 games

hold the power button down when it is red till you hear the quick beeps then select the file restore this is a diagnostics menu..remember you have to hold the power button down till you see a menu that youve probably never seen

It will say cant play disc

That is a lens problem.

You can try using a BRD lens cleaner to clean the blue ray lens, but with a Sony blue ray it is better to call Sony first, as using this kind of equipment may affect your warranty status.

Call Sony at the number listed on the owners manual and describe the problem.

Does your player load the blu-ray menus?
Mine wouldn't until I updated it's firmware.
