Re: cant detect as portable device
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard

Try it on the rear ports on your motherboard if it is usb. Make sure the cable is a good onem try exchanging for another. For a device th intioalise drivers should be necessary, does it come with any, which operating system are you using. Have you tested it on another computer to check that it is functioning? There are lots of things to check
Also, before you do anything else, ensure that all usb support is enabled in bios.
Most of the behavior occurs when the laptop with battery or the computer can not supply the stable power. The problem is often resulted from connecting lots of USB devices at the same time. Because most of USB device use the power supply from computer, it leads to the insufficient power supply of computer. Please make sure that the computer supplies stable power. You may connect the power cable if you use laptop. Moreover, we suggest you removing the other unnecessary USB device.

plug in your HDD and run recurrva and try to recover files if you cant do that remove the HDD from the caddy and plug into a PC and test if you can access your files if not reformat by right clicking on the drive in my computer (ntfs is recommended) you will loose all data but you may be able to recover your HDD

If your computer or laptop has a problem detecting a USBhard drive or a USB device, and another computer can detect it, then theproblem could be a RF interference problem.
Try using an USB cable that is a shielded USB cable (ie. AnUSB cable that has a clear plastic covering and you can see a metallic weavewhich covers the wires) OR a USB cable that has a Ferrite core attached to theUSB cable (the ferrite core is a cylindrical object approximately 30mm long X15mm diameter and it is attached to the USB cable near the connector).
