The water coming out of the door tastes and smells fine but the ice smells AWFUL. I removed the ice bin to clean it and it still smells. It seems that the plastic and metal are retaining the smell. Any ideas???

My ice seems to be ok when it is in water, but when put in soda or any other liquid it smells like rotten eggs. I have public water and my house is only 4 yr old. Where can I get this odor filter for the main line?

I have had my Pelonis water cooler for approx 2 years now the cold water tastes like mildew. I tried cleaning it with a product from Culligan but the problem seems worse. Any suggestions

I would suggest a 50/50 mix of water and bleech, and make sure you let it soak long enough to kill the germs. Then flush is well with plenty of water.

Ice smells like mildew! We purchased the refrigerator/freezer new 6 months ago. It does not seem to be a problem caused by other foods in the freezer. Model number: FFTR2126LW

Mildew smell in your ice is caused by one of three things. 1. Old, dirty, clogged water filter 2. Bad water quality from your house water supply 3. Ice that has not been used and sits in the bucket for time can become stale tasting.

Our new maytag fridge makes the worst tasting ice. What is the problem??? Model # MBF2258WEWO

Are you using plastic or copper tubing for the water lines. I was never a big fan of plactic because it tends to trap mold and mildew.

Our model number is the GSS25JEPA and the ice in the ice machine leaves a after taste seems like it is a chemical taste and strange smell on the ice that the machine makes. I am not sure what to do.

I would suspect the water supply to the refrigerator. After it has sat without use over night at least, turn the water off and open the fill line at the refrigerator and place it in a clean container. Turn the water on gently for a very short time then check what you have in the container. More then likely it will contain what you are saying is in the ice. If not then you need to thoroughly clean the freezer and ice maker, my preference is to use a mild soap and bleach solution. The bleach would kill any mold that may be present.
Good Luck,

Icemaker in brand new fridge makes ice that tastes like mildew

brand new?OK...first,did you flush the water filter by dispencing 2 pitchers of water through the door.wait, that it.basicly the water in your ice maker is the same water that comes out of your tap.you may find that you dont like the filtered water, there should be a bypass plug that can go in place of the filter.solution wise thats about it.

Ice in my ge frigerator smells and tastes like mold,in the fridge

I would suggest changing the plastic feeder tubing to the filter and the ice maker on the unit. Also, the ice maker units unplug and can be removed quite easily, you can also take that out and give it a thorough cleaning with warm soapy water, being a careful not to get water on any electrical parts.
