Question about Ricoh Aficio CL7100 Printer

PCU Replacement Dear Wiz I bought a used Ricoh CL7100 printer a short while ago. I am happy with it. Not long after it was bought I noticed Replace PCU (A) error. Supplier attended and fitted just one of the three units. (I think Cyan). I thought nothing of this as (a) the machine was second hand and (b) I was told that this was a warranty replacement and I was not going to be charged for it. Not long afterwards, I experienced a similar message and the supplier attended and fitted a second unit (I think Magenta). I argued that this should be a warranty replacement and whilst they agreed in principle, they said that they wold be unable to get their money back and invited me to pay the full cost. I remonstrated arguing warranty etc, and agreed eventually to pay half of the full cost of £140. The engineer in attendance took the magenta unit from a box containing three such units. (a box I now recognise). I now have a similar error and have reverted to the supplier. He offered to visit and fit a third (we believe Yellow) PCU for a cost of £140. I have researched the cost of these units and find that I can buy a replacement kit A containing all three such PCU roller kits for £153 and I have bought one. Given that I now have two fairly new PCU units in the machine I am interested to know whether - whilst it is clearly possible to replace these units one at a time - it is desirable to do so, whether it does not actually matter how many are replaced at a given time, or whether all three units must be replaced at the same time - which raises questions about the servicing of the printer on two earlier occasions. Any information would be gratefully received. If I can replace them one at a time, how do I find out which one is the one which needs replacing now? I assume it is the Yellow but the error message merely says "Replace PCU (A)" (as opposed, I presume  to PCU (K) ). If it were to be one of the two which was replaced o an earlier occasion I might need to speak again to the engineer. The manual accompanying the Kit implies (but does not state expressly) that all the units will be replaced though it states that only the procedure for replacing one will be described. You are more right than you know, the reason for the kit is for the reasons you said. When you change the kit all 3 colors are new and thereby not 3 service calls and 1 upset customer.
The kit is far cheaper and keep any "good PCUs" in the original package.
The black PCU is the most important one. Buying the different maint. kits saves $$$ as opposed to peicemeal.

You can put one color PCU in at a time if you wish.

I had the same issue with my CL3500N. I kept taking out and reinserting the color PCU with the same resulting error. However, I fixed my problem. My color PCU is now reset and printing
Instructions on how I fixed the issue:
1) Turn off the printer and remove the color PCU from the printer
2) Look inside the printer where you removed the color PCU and you will notice three attach points (gears) that each of the three color PCU rollers connect to the printer.
3) Notice that each roller inside the printer has an arrow stamped in metal pointing toward it. On my printer, one at approximately the 2 o'clock position, 9 o'clock position and 3 o'clock position.
4) On the color PCU look at the end of unit that you insert into the printer. Notice the white female connectors on each of three rollers. Look closely and you will see that there are notches inside each connector (gears). One of those notches is longer than the others.
5) For each roller insert your finger into the white connector (gear) to rotate the roller so the long notch aligns with the arrow inside the printer. Be careful not to touch the photo sensitive area of the roller.
6) Insert the color PCU into the printer and turn it on. May need trial and error to align the notch correctly, but it certainly worked for me.

What is replace color cpu toner?

Could the message have been "Replace color PCU (Type A)"? In that case, you need to replace all three color photoconductor units (order Printer Maintenance Kit Type 7100A).

I do not know of any Replace CPU error messages. I hope this helps.

Hi.when i m switch on the Ricoh 3310L Fax,the message is coming as shown below "time to change PCU"

Order a new PCU from Ricoh. Power off the machine and replace the pcu.
If you try and cheat it it will run for a short while and then lock-up breaking some gears. Cheeper just to order a pcu. Check Ebay, i see alot of Ricoh supplies there.

How to get borderless printing on a CL7100

Laser printers are unable to print all the way to the edges of the paper because of the excess toner dust that will fall off into the printer unit. The only way to get true full bleed laser prints is to use a larger paper size and then cut the edges off.

The PCU is the photconductor unit. There is a black pcu and a color pcu. Did you replace these or replace the toner cartridges??
