My daughter just got a new ninetendo ds lite 2 days ago. Her baby brother stepped on it and cracked the touch screen. We have another broken ds lite that we would like to take the touch screen out of, but aren't sure how to open up the console without ruining the computer. Hi, you will most probably need to replace touch screen. Buy new 1 from ebay about 2 quid and a tri-wing screwdriver to take apart console. Youtube videos how to replace touch screen and follow video step by step. Not at all hard to do just make sure you don't break the black clip off the board that holds the ribbon cable for the touch screen, can be write fiddly. Magnifying glass will help and small tweezers. Enjoy
the top plastic surround will need replacing as it will now tart to damage the ribbon cable to the top screen and the screen will then need replacing as well if u get a crystal case for the DS it will last a bit longer but eventually it will need to be replaced
Go to the retailer you bought it from and if you bought it less than two years ago you can get a new one free with the exchange of the old one only if you have the warranty
Yes the touch screen can be replaced, you can buy a new one on ebay for $10.00 you will also need a triwing screwdriver, also on ebay. you can try nintendo to see if it's under warranty.

If you mean PHYSICALLY broken (as in cracked) then hit Ebay. Nintendo doesn't sell replacement parts. You will also nned a miniature Tri-Wing screwdriver to open the case.
