You may want to check to see if the computer you are trying to connect has thier computer enalbed for you to connect. When trying to access another you have to make sure you are not being block by any type of software....Norton Firewall, Windows Firewall or any other known products that may limit your connections.

I have a acer aspire 1, my wireless internet is on but when i click the browser icon nothing happens-dont connect to yahoo etc. can anyone help/suggest any ideas

Can you connect to the internet through a different program, such as Firefox?

Is your wireless showing that you are connected to a network? If it is your firewall may be blocking the connection, try turning it off and then see if you can access the internet. If you can, add an exception to the firewall list.

If you cant it may also be your anti-virus that you are using.

Also you can try and let microsoft fix it for you automatically http://support.microsoft.com/kb/956196. Select the "Fix it" button in the centre of the page under the "fix it for me" option.

ERROR 80072EFE IS NOY ALLOW TO UPDATE WINDOW 7

I understand you receive an error message 0x80072EFE when trying to installing update from the Windows Update website. This kind of issue may be caused by hardware/software firewalls or proxy server or Windows category files are corrupted. Let’s try the following steps to resolve this issue.

Step 1: Check background programs.
=======================
Disable firewalls or other Internet browser programs that can affect the Internet connection. The following programs can affect the connection to the Windows Update site and I suggest you remove or disable them:

McAfee firewall
Norton Internet Security
Zone Alarm Firewall
Panda firewall

Step 2: Delete the CatRoot2 folder
=======================
A: Stop Cryptographic Services:

1. Click Start, click Run, type in "SERVICES.MSC" and press Enter.
2. Double click Cryptographic Services, and then click Stop (if it has been started).

B: After stopping Cryptographic Service, please delete the "Catroot2" folder:

1. Locate the "C:\Windows\System32\" folder.
2. Delete the Catroot2 subfolder in System32.

Note: I am assuming your Windows Vista is installed in C:\Windows.

C: Re-start Cryptographic Services:

1. Click Start, click Run, type in "SERVICES.MSC" and press Enter.
2. Double click Cryptographic Services, and then click Start.

After performing the above steps, please visit the Windows Update website and check the available update.

Hope this helps.

My laptop cant browse when using wifi(chrome, firefox explore)I get the cant resolve host error. I am able to connect to the wireless router. I am able to browse if connected using ethernet. other wireless...

You are probably right. Your laptop is not playing well with others.
First check to see if your wireless adapter on your laptop is turned on.
Then click the icon that controls the wireless connections to see if you can see your network. If you can, click on the network name and see if you can log on.
Next, temporarily turn off any internet security programs you have to see if you are experiencing a firewall issue. Check to see if Windows firewall is turned on for the wireless connection. If so, turn it off until you connect.

My com dont access to any site

see if you have connected your broadband internet cable into your computer , and go to your network connections to see if it's connected. If this doesn't help then it's probably you firewall or your anti virus program that is not allowing you to access the internet. Go to your firewall or the anti virus software and unblock the internet browser(internet explorer, firefox, etc.) you are using.

No internet connection when I install AVG

please make a detailed explain of the roblem ...the only way of the avg to interfere with the connection is if it has settings for this ...like it own firewall ( I mean avg firewall) this is not available in any of the free avg ..so ..the problem is a different kind... go to bios at the features setup ...and look if it detects your LAN ..or modem ( in case) ..the last one needs to be enabled if ya are on this kind of connection .if you use a LAN connection ..and you can not find it into your bios...than try to remove cmos battery to reset and it will see it again ...if you do that dont forget to re set the time and date ..cause it would not start windows without ..it will prompt you to do that first ...

Internet

what type of program are you using? check the properties or references of the programs that you are using. you may need to configure it in accordance with your home network setup. your firewall (software or router/hardware) may also be a cause. check your firewall settings and enter the port number being used by the program. make sure that the firewall allows your program to run and connect to the internet.

Websites not displaying while connected

It sounds like your Internet Explorer browser is not configured correctly, or else your are not connecting to the ISP in the right way. First check to see if it is a firewall problem, though. Turn the firewall off and try to connect to the web; if it works, you have a firewall configuration problem which is easily fixed by tweaking the settings.

If this fails, try downloading (at work maybe) a copy of Firefox browser from www.mozilla.com and installing that and see if it can connect and browse the web. If the firewall asks you for permission to let Firefox access the web, say yes. Even with a firewall, Internet Explorer is not very safe, so try Firefox first. If Firefox works, the problem is with Internet Explorer settings (such as proxy).

If this doesn't work, it might be that your router or wireless rig is not connecting properly, or something configuration related.

As a last resort, try going to the start bar and then clicking on RUN and then entering "CMD" and enter. Then type in "ping www.mit.edu" and enter. If it responds "Request timed out", then you have connectivity problems between your machine and the ISP, and it is unlikely to be a browser problem. Try reinstalling whatever software your ISP gave you for connecting, and reviewing all of the network settings. Try all this with the firewall turned off temporarily.

Good luck...
