Question about Audio & Video Receivers

My Zoom H2 microphone has suddenly stopped working. It won't turn on, it happened when I attempted to plug the power supply (with batteries as well) I was using an Australian socket outlet converter so it would fit into the power point. Please help?

Sure, it's a Zoom H2 Handy Recorder (Serial No. 00123258) http://www.samsontech.com/products/produ... there is a link to what it looks like and details. Thanks!

Thanks for your help, have done as you said, just playing the waiting game! What is Flea power?

  • lwd4 Apr 28, 2008

I tried everything and it still seems to not work. Although when I held the unit in my hand taking the batteries out in the first place it was warm, then 30 mins later putting the batteries back in it's still quite warm. Should I leave it perhaps a bit longer?

Please reset the unit by taking the batteries and power cord out and disconnected for a couple of minuites this will drain the static power from the unit leave it turned off for half hour then reconnect a good battery set and you can try connecting the pwr too.

this should help if there is no physical damage to the Zoom H2 microphone

Why am I not getting sound anymore?

Amplifier issue. See if you are getting audio signal at audio outputs used for recording. If not, then it is NOT the audio amp and the proceeding circuits are responsible.

U might also want to check out your power supply voltages to make sure that the other components are being properly fed.

Bose Wave unplugged now it wont power up

The power supply and power regulation circuits on these particular models can be finicky and fail in various assorted manners, causing a no power up condition. This is not something an untrained person should attempt to repair. If there is a possibility that liquid seeped into the unit from a spill (common) then that can present its own set of problems. I have a Yamaha htr-3065 HDMI receiver that won't turn on after we experienced a power outage. When I plug the unit in I get a buzz sound from transformer but still won't come on. The fuse and power supply...

If you have any electronics experience you should check the diodes or the bridge rectifier in the power circuit. Look for burned components or bulged capacitors.!!!Always unplug the unit and wait a few minutes before attempting any procedure!! I have found that capacitors usually fail due to voltage spikes which can happen when power is reinstated after an outage. Always use surge protectors on electronic devices. They have a component called an MOV that will absorb voltage spikes and save your equipment.

Denon AVR-1908 won't power on

Are you getting a standby light at all? Is it flashing? Do you here a click when you plug the unit in? If the answer is no to all of these then you blew a fuse. If you do have soome sort of standby light, then your set is in protect mode. More than likely for a blown channel. If no lights, but you ar egetting a click, you could have a bad transformer. Use a DVM and see if it is open or not. Good luck

My 4 month old Samsung suddenly says, when turned on, there is no signal, check connections. They are all fine. I hooked my old television in and it works. What happened.

Who cares what happened...it's 4 months old - it's under WARRANTY.
Any attempt to repair it would void the warranty.
Call Samsung, and they will briefly troubleshoot with you then replace the unit.

Yamaha RX-V750 wont power up

Check the fuse. You might have had a power surge which blew a fuse. If not, check the fuse for the socket. Reset the fuses for that socket. If it still doesn't work, it sounds like the internal boards got fried, or the power supply got fried. The power supply is replaceable, but we don't know if it is the power supply. To check, connect a voltage meter to the power supply.

Something like this happened to me. I found a new kenwood stereo next to the dumpsters, stickers and all still on it, plugged it in, it worked, shut it off to plug in a speaker, didn't turn back on, months later after leaving it plugged in, turned on, I used it, then shut it off for the night, in the morning the standby light was still on, tried turning it on, but it wouldn't for some reason, unplugged it, then the light wouldn't come on, it was once again sitting on a shelf as a paperweight, one day it randomly came on again, and now it 100% works, and I use it as an amp for my RE audio subwoofer, and its worked great since! The reason this kinda applies to you is because its kinda simmilar what happened to you. Just leave it plugged in, and maybe sometime you will walk by it noticing it works.

My phonic firefly 808, stops working after 10 minutes

you either have a bad thermistor or somthing is qverheating in the power supply or output stage, If you are not an experienced tech than a trip to the repair shop is needed, as this is usually a symtpom of a larger problem.

I am using my mic and it dosent work. IT says it is working but its not. IT dosent record any sound

Not sure what kind of microphone you're using but if it is plugged into a receiver (which is the heading you have your question under) it must be powered with either batteries or a preamp.

The receiver input jack does not provide the power required for the microphone to record sound. It will show something is connected, but nothing will record. Inexpensive microphone preamps and powered microphones can be found at any major electronics store.

Yamaha RX-V595A tuns off automatically

This was happening to mine also, all of a sudden. This solution came from the owners manual. Sure enough, the impedance selector was stuck in the middle , between 4 and 8 ohms....I also, made sure the speaker wires were not touching each other at the splice. Problem fixed.

The unit fails to turn on when
STANDBY/ON is pressed, or set in
the standby mode suddenly soon
after the power has been turned on.
The power cord is not plugged in or the
plug is not completely inserted.
The IMPEDANCE SELECTOR switch
on the rear panel is not fully set to the
upper or lower end.
Firmly plug in the power cord.
Set the switch fully to the upper or
lower end when the unit is in the
standby mode.
