You need to use the original remote and call up the customer menu; select auto program or channel program and see if reprogramming will help.

If no JVC remote you have only one other choice----connect a DVD or VCR to one of the video inputs and see if the set functions that way.

Have a westinghouse lcd tv 50inch model ew50t5kw and would like to know before changing any parts or boards what causes a blue screen no sound or picture

  1. Frank: Verizon. com says try this: Change your VCR's Channel to 3 or 4. Most blue screen issues are caused by the VCR not being set to Channel 3 or 4. If changing the VCR's channel (using the channel buttons on the VCR or from the VCR remote control) did not change your TV screen, go to step 2.
  2. Make sure your TV is not in Video mode. There are three possible ways to change your TV's mode using your TV remote control: 1) Press a Mode button, toggle through the options and select TV, 2) Press a Video button to change your TV's mode from Video to TV or 3) Press Menu, locate Mode or Audio/Video setup and select TV from one of the options. If you are not sure how to change your TV's mode, see your TV's user guide for more information.
  3. Check to make sure your set-top box is plugged in and turned on.
  4. Check to see if other TVs (connected to different outlets) have a blue screen. If they do, contact the Verizon Fiber Solutions Center.

I have a JVC C252 and I don't get channels 2 thru 48. Channels 49 and higher work fine. When I go to channel 2, for example, the screen goes to ''snow'' for about 2 seconds and then goes to blue.

The tuner of the TV is likely bad. Try hooking up a vcr (if available ) and changing channels with it (using video inputs on tv if available).
If you can confirm that the cable is good (by trying another tv) then the problem is with the tuner of the TV- get estimate from repair shop.

Blue Screen

Hello,
I just wanted to suggest some things for you to try, if you have not done them already. Try hooking up a known good signal, such as the main input cable from your cable or dish, hook it straight to your tv, and see if you can change channels, and get a picture on low band...2 thru 6, and then if not, how about any picture above channel 6, if you get picture on 2 thru 13 now, it could be whatever you have hooked in between the input cable and the tv...be sure you have the tv on the right channel for your receiver, usually 3 or 4, or if you are using another type of video input cable, make sure you have tv on the right input for that cable and that cable is good...check the in and out of your component unit, for correct cable hookup as well as your cables, in reference to using RCA video and audio left and right in and out...a lot of sets and vcr's will go to a blue screen if they lose signal to them....I hope this helps you out some.If you cannot get a picture from hooking your signal straight to your tv, it could be the tuner got a spike from a thunderstorm, or has lost the B Plus source for the tuner circuit. Be sure that it is not selected for an input signal, other than the cable or antenna mode, the onscreen text should verify this, if you can change channels with or without getting video...a picture....Good luck with it. T.
