Does anyone know how to transfer pictures from the camera to a memory card? I thought my card was in there when I took the picture, but it wasn't.

Most all cameras cannot move pics from internal memory to memory card. You first have to save them to your hard drive with a usb connection. Then you can move the pics to the memory card if you have a card reader. Or... replug the camera into usb after installing the memory card. Then you can move the pics to the memory card. Note: if trying the later you have to name the pics following the same naming convention as the pics already on your memory card. otherwise, they will not show up or will replace those that already exist on the card.

Took pictures without memory card Nikon D3000 camera, can I retrieve them?

No. Without a memory card the camera stores the last picture taken only so you can view it to verify proper operation. It overwrites the previous picture, and it disappears when you turn the camera off.

You NEED a memory card if you want to save the pictures. Sorry if that wasn't the answer you wanted to see, but that's the way the camera works.

I took pictures on my camera without a memory card can i still download my pictures

I'm glad to provide the steps to transfer images from Internal Memory of the Camera. When the camera does not have a memory card in it, the images are saved by default to the camera's internal memory, which holds different amounts of images based on how many megapixels are built into the internal memory and what image quality and compression are selected in the camera's menu. Once a memory\picture card is inserted in the camera, the camera then saves the photos to the memory\picture card and ignores the internal memory.

There are two ways to transfer the images from the internal memory.

  • To transfer photos to a computer from the internal memory using the USB cable, first remove the memory card from the camera. Then, when the camera is connected, the computer and software will only see what is in the internal memory and transfer those photos or videos. During the transfer process, the computer makes copies of the photos and videos-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the transfer is complete and the camera is safely disconnected from the computer, the contents of the internal memory can be deleted by using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

  • The other way to transfer photos from the internal memory is to transfer them to the memory\picture card using the BACKUP function in the SETUP menu. If there is no memory\picture card in the camera, the BACKUP function is grayed-out. During BACKUP, copies of the images are transferred to the memory\picture card-the original images remain in the internal memory. After the BACKUP is complete, the internal memory can be cleared by removing the memory\picture card and formatting the internal memory using the MEMORY FORMAT function in the SETUP menu in the camera's menus.

Note: When the camera is connected to a computer using the USB cable with a memory\picture card in the memory\picture card slot, the computer will only see the contents of the memory\picture card.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any additional help.

I took picture w/o SD card. Don't know how to transfer to SD

Search the menus for an entry for "copy". It should give you the option to copy the internal memory to a memory card. You could also take the camera and a usb connecting cord to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak picture maker machine. You can plug the camera into the usb slot and print the picture.

SD Card Issue

Usually when you take pictures using NO SD card you can't take the picture, however in this case the pictures you took are stored in a memory bank temp only to test the picture your actually taking. In the manual what's the size of the built in memory card? Usually it's small amount of memory built in

How do I transfer pictures onto the memory card?

You should be able to download the pictures if they are on the camera or memory card to your pc, just browse the folder in windows for the camera name and and the pics will be in that folder, because it is just another form of a media device.
