1. Turn off the printer.
2. Turn it over and remove the battery cover.
3. Looking above the batteries, you will see a square opening into the upper part of the printer. In that opening you will see a white gear. Sometimes it seizes. Take a long, thin object (screw driver, letter opener, etc) and rotate the gear. It does not matter which way you turn it.
4. Because your range of motion is limited in the small opening, turn the gear in the same direction about 10-12 times so it gets a full revolution.
5. Now turn on your printer and try it again.

Depending on your model, you may see the white gear under the cartridge. Same repair as stated above.

We ended up purchasing a #8 Torx driver to open up the unit. Found a piece if vinyl label stuck between two gears. Once that was removed it worked again.

Hi! I have a powermark printer...when printer is "online" it gives an error "unknown supply tape. Reload Tape". I reload the tape but when you click the print command the error " unknown supply tape. reload tape" pops-up again..

Any solution?

I had the same problem. I opened up the unit and found that the small drive gear (right next to the one mentioned above) had lifted up on the shaft and was no longer engaging the other gear. I could have probably noticed this from the battery compartment. I pushed it back down and now the unit works fine.

ALO5151 I opened the case on the printer what i found was that the main small cog on the drive motor was slipping on the motor shart the motor was turning but the small gear was just sitting there spinning i used a small label from the wire marker label and cut off a piece of the label and wrapped it around the shaft to help tighten up the gear and it worked perfectly keep in mind that this is helpful but you reall should order a new gear i'm usind this temporary because i need to use the machine to print out some labels right away in the mean time i will be ordering a couple of new gears for the drive motor i will also order all new gears for the complete running gear it will be easy for me to order since i live right here in milwaukee wisconsin where the labeler is manufactured

Canon mx860 printer not using ink from PGBK 220

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent ink drying out and blocking the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer than replace the print head.

Epson printer will not print any copies. I get the message "change cartridges 98/99." I did change both cartidges and can't clear the message and print copies.

i assume that everytime you try to print you get the same message. i sometimes get cartridge unrecognised on my epsom. I have to remove the cartridge, wipe the chip on the cartridge and reinsert.

If this doesnt work please specify printer model and if using original epsom cartridges.

I have an x6150 and it had been working fine. I ran out of ink and replaced the cartridge not too long ago. I printed a few items (not much) and all of a sudden when I hit print, it acts like it is...

Print quality issues could be due to clogged or dirty print cartridge nozzles. Try the steps below to improve print quality on your Lexmark X6150 printer:
  1. Load paper in the All-In-One.
  2. On the printer operator panel, press Copy.
  3. Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display.
  4. Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display.
  5. Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles.
  6. Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.
You may also try to insert a different known working cartridge to determine if it's not a cartridge issue.

The ink solidifies right behind the micro printing nozzles. The only way to attempt to rectify this is to dip the print face into some warm (not hot) water for a minute or two, and dry after wards. If the cartridge recovers, Yippee, if it doesn't, replace.
Common problem. Be thankful it isn't a Canon or Epson, which entails replacing a seriously expensive 'print head'.

I need your help my printer quit printing, I was low on ink and it quit printing after I printed a page. I changed cartridges and it still would not print, so I swapped cartridges with a different printer...

So it prints the self test (test page) or not?

If nothing is printing from at all (printer moves likes it is printing when in operation, but no ink hitting paper) there may be a blockage on the jets or the information is not getting to the printer properly if these same cartridges work on another printer.

I would lift lid and carefully check each one and wipe with a thin cloth the remove any clotted ink and dirt.

You have already reinstalled the drivers, but I would get the latest ones you can from www.hp.com

Finally I would cold reset the printer - usually holding the go button pressed in while hitting the power button on and off - will reset rthe calibration and give you a better chance of fixing.

Also if you have the cartridges for the wrong model, they may physically fit in, but the chip on the cart will tell the printer theres a problem and won;t print.

Summary:

- Check cartridges - off the top of my head (please check!) you should be using HP 45 for Black and HP 68 for Colour (if using a different brand, fine but the numbers are thee same)
- Download latest drivers
- Cold reset printer and install again

Good Luck

Print cartridge error

Press either the menu or setup button.
There should be a maintenance section where you can do eletronic print cartridge cleaning and print head alignments and calabrations.
Some of them can be done at the computer if you access the driver properties.
You can clich the print queue and look around there also for print head cleaning and some other diagnostic procedures.
If those don't resolve the problem, remove the cartridge and take a fuzzless cloth dampened very slightly with alcohol and clean the contacts to the print cartridge.
PLEASE REMOVE THE POWER when cleaning though.
