Question about Televison & Video
I bought a Philips LCD TV model 32PF9541 4 months ago. About 4 weeks ago the screen started to go black while watching the tv. The sound stays perfect and I can still change the channel and hear the channel change but the picture stays black. I tried it with a DVD and had the same issue so it's not my satellite connection. I also unconnected and reconnected all cables a number of times but this did not help.
On some occasions it does work. If you power on and off the TV a couple of times it usually fixes itself but it is happening more often now and on a bad night it will go black every 30 mins. I have taken it back to the shop and they are being particularly unhelpful. They have said they can not replicate the fault in the shop but I am very nervous about taking it back as I don't want the warranty to run out.
I would be really grateful if someone could let me know if this sounds like a technical fault with the TV or something I have done as although I tried a number of things to fix it, the shop are making me doubt the problem.
Sounds like a temperature problem if it takes a while for the problem to happen there are several things u can try and figure it out yourself. 1. Remove the back cover of the tv and turn the tv on. 2. use a hair dryer and apply heat to various boards of the lcd (inverters, power supply and scaler) while applying heat to see what board reacts and makes the tv go dark. More than likely its a defective LCD panel and its just as easy to send it back and get a replacement TV.
