I have this same problem with the LC51 Brother

Same Brother LC51 machine. I had a paper jam, then got this "Unable to print 30" message, unplugged machine and then the message changed to "unable to print 50". Machine also will not turn off by off/on button. I hate to trash the machine, any ideas, anyone? Brother said this sometimes happens if you use generic ink but I have used Brother ink!

And you should get an error 30 which toggles to error 50, i guess.

same issue:

Code unable to print 51

Hi, Error 51 means that the purge inkpad is full.
This means you have 3 choices:
1- If it's still under warranty, activate it 2- Replace the inkpad, but sadly Brother does not provide spare parts and as such it will be extremelly difficult to find a compatible one. 3-Get in contact with BROTHER to get an estimate of the cost to replace the ink tank.
Hope i was of any help. If so, please rate me. Thank you

Unable to clean print heads

Unplug the printer from power cord.Press and hold the "menu" button, then plug the device. You'll see on the LCD screen a "machine error" code.If this code is 40,41,49 or 4F the print head is defective. If the error is 48 - defective print head cable or circuit board. If the error is 50 or 51 there is error in Purge unit and printer require service. If the error is 46 the waste ink tank is full.Follow this:
Enter 80, then scroll down with the arrow down (round) key. You'll find an entry listed as purge count. If number is over 6000, enter 2 7 8 3.This will reset the purge count value. Then restart the printer, hopefully without the annoying cannot clean message.

Machine Error 51

More than likely you have a bad printhead, if its under warranty brother will pay to have it fixed, otherwise just play baseball with it and buy another one

Message unable to print 50

Machine Error 50 either means that there is a loose object inside the machine (usually piece of paper), or that there is a mechanical error which would need you to have the machine sent to service.

Printer message: Unable to Print

5A means that the purge cam stopps abnormally when it is in use. This could be of a broken cam shaft. You have to replace the whole purge unit. This is a service job to do!
